Denver local story of a woman who used Timeshare Termination Team to "exit" her timeshare, advertised on that local channel

Location
The Centennial State
Resorts Owned
Wyndham; Disney OKW & SSR; Marriott's Willow Ridge, Shadow Ridge, Grand Chateau; Val Chatelle; Hono Koa OF (2); SBR(LOTS), SDO(a few); WKORV-OFC-6 and Westin Desert Willow.

This woman saw the commercial on channel 7 in Denver and used the company to get rid of her timeshare or her money back. $14,000 later, the company has closed up business and disappeared.

In my opinion, the news station is liable for their advertisers. That is my opinion.

This is really disgusting, and even worse that she bought additional points from what I can only assume to be a very sleazy salesperson. I would love to know which timeshare. Wyndham comes to mind. Maybe the timeshare is not free and clear.

When I researching this company I noticed that they blasted advertising on many media sites across the US. The problem with this type of advertising is that it makes it appear that it is a legit news story. Below is just one of many. This one was posted just a couple weeks before they locked their doors. Meredith Myers of Timeshare Termination Team (TTT) when asked why use TTT, says “We have an incredible reputation” and “We deliver incredible results” and also mentions their money back guarantee. I wonder how many people signed up in the last few weeks only to have their money stolen by this scammer.

It is my opinion that these companies operate like a ponzi scheme. They take in lots of money, live a great lifestyle and use some of that money as needed to refund as part of their money back guarantee. They keep spending the money probably buying homes, cars and taking lavish vacations while not performing on the business end. Eventually they realize that the bank account is empty but customers keep asking for refunds so they lock the doors and disappear.

The LLC members are Brian and Holly Wilbur. Shame on them, they should be in jail.

Similar companies have dinner and a show (You eat dinner, they put on their song and dance production) offers here. I’m always tempted to eat the dinner and watch the show, but I’d have to take a day off of work to do it, and that would cost me to much money. I’d probably get kicked out for pointing out the obvious to the sheep they’re attempting to sheer.

Years ago I did exactly this a couple of times just to see what was going on. As you already know the spin was mostly lies but what amazed me was how many people were sitting down individually after the presentation and signing up. It boggled my mind. I had little pressure to stay and talk individually as they had all the business they could handle...

The L o n e s t a r Transfer company is another one I see advertised on tv a lot. I think it's FOX channel (I switch up FOX and CNN - like to listen a few minutes of each to see what the other is saying/reporting). I spaced it out because it would not type it the way it's spelled (kept coming up Lodestar).

After reading so many posts here - it is safe to assume they are all out take someone's money. I am surprised they are still all out there. They all look so good and legit (but not many people know that) especially when they advertise on TV.

Was a sad way to steal money from a timeshare owner..

Impulse buyers are their best customers. They bought a timeshare on impulse, didn’t bother to research or learn how to use it, now they’re impulse buying a way out of the contract. It’s a perfect scam with an easily definable audience.

These companies actually think of timeshare owners as suckers. It's a con, pure and simple. They don't really help.

I did email the station to ask what this lady owns and told them about TUG. They haven't gotten back to me yet.

Impulse buyer, sucker…..pretty much the same thing.

The woman did get back to me on her story:

Hi Cindy,

Thank you for taking the time to write us. We did not include the name of the timeshare company because Debi is currently trying to work out a deal with them and we did not want to jeopardize that for her.

As far as the company being featured on channel 7, obviously we did not know it was a scam or we would’ve never ran something about them. I do agree that the BBB can be pretty worthless too.

Thanks again for your input.

Somebody on 1 of the FaceBook timeshare groups asked for a complete list of legitimate timeshare "exit" companies.

I suggested a blank sheet of paper.

Same goes for timeshare "cancellation" companies & timeshare "disposal" companies.

Shux upon all of them.

How many timeshare exit companies are in the USA ? Working under the radar. These companies can setup anywhere with a legal business license and with a bank of telephones/computers; something is wrong somewhere IMHO.

They take hard earn money from the rich, middle class and poor families.
They do not care who they steal from; all they want is your money.

Seems like every major brand has a deed surrender program. I've used them twice on resales that no longer fit my needs. If she had only found TUG she would be +$14K!

Most of the little companies also have the ability to deed back, but for a price. Usually they want fees paid in advance for one or two years, which is so much cheaper than these exit companies.
