I will be flying cross-country on Delta soon. I am not a member of their FF program and don't want to be because I do not anticipate using them again in the near future.

My question -- is there a domestic airline FF that I may already be a member of that I can give them that number to earn miles? I've looked at their website and still I am not clear on this question.

Thx in advance.

Alaska and Hawaiian are the only domestic airline partners on SkyMiles. Here's a link to the Int'l ones: http://skymilesoffers.delta.com/airline_partners.php It costs nothing to join, and the miles don't expire, so why not join? Your travel plans may change sometime down the road.

Alaska Airlines is your best bet. Not only are they partners with Delta, but also with several other US airlines, so you can consolidate your miles there. It also has some international partners, but redemption rates on their international partners are not so good.

As to Delta's international partners, none of them currently have particularly good programs. Air France's Frequence Plus used to be great, especially for Americans, but when they took over KLM and merged their ff program with KLM's Flying Dutchman, the new program, Flying Blue, was a pale ghost of the old programs, and has had a number of downgrades since from even that level.

Thanks for your help. I think Alaska is best for me. For some reason I understood I could EARN Delta on Alaska, but it wasn't clear if I could earn ALASKA when flying Delta. (Or perhaps it is always a mutual thing?)
