Delivery Robots Swarm Lincoln Park Sidewalk In Viral Video As Pushback Grows

A Lincoln Park resident’s video showing more than a dozen delivery robots clustered on Clark Street has drawn more than 300,000 views.

I don't know how I feel about this - on one hand, I like high tech. I like maybe lowering delivery traffic on the roads. On the other hand I'm not sure sidewalks are an appropriate place for these things (contrary to the article claims, it really isn't a place for cyclists either), yet it's probably not realistic to put these sort of things on the roads as well. I also see both sides of - half baked things shouldn't just be blasted out into the world, but I also know that as "ready" as anything appears in isolated testing environments, you literally can't polish the product or service till it hits the real world and things you never foresaw(and probably could never expect or find in controlled testing) happen.

As the OP said anything that takes more vehicles off of the road is an improvement. Human drivers do a terrible job and make far too many mistakes.

DH just read that eggs can be delivered by drone. I don’t think we’ll try it; we’ve seen the Walmart drone deliver canned goods to DD’s backyard.
