none at this time past owner and looking to buy again
We owned a timeshare many moons ago but never stayed at our "home" location. I had purchased it specifically for the trade value. Now we are looking for a 2/2 week 11 at Smugglers Notch. My SIL already owns that week and we'd like to travel together but still have our own space. Problem is i found a 1/1 week 11 and a 2/2 week 12. How hard is it to switch weeks? Are we better off buying a points based one and booking that way? Anyone know how many points are required for that week 2/2? Lastly, Wyndam points vs RCI points? Any guidance is greatly apprciated! Last time we really took advantage of the RCI extra stays and look forward to that again!

Definitely buy the fixed week, don't settle for the points. The likelihood you'll get the same week each year, to align with your SIL, during Peak Ski Season/Spring Break (via points) is slim to none.

Perhaps create a 'Want Ad' in the TUG Marketplace?

Though I will say, if you're not locked into the specific Wyndham area, a bunch of smugglers notch is independent. I think for ski season you ought to get the same week as a fixed week. However, for most other times I've not had any issue getting Smuggs as a RCI extra vacation and often even as a last call.

If the plan is to travel together then get aligning fixed weeks. It might be better to rent or exchange depending on how many weeks you think you need.

Thank you everyone for the comments! I ended up going with the 1 bedroom week 11. I really wanted a two bedroom so I'll stay in the market until that comes up and I can gift the other one to our other sister.

I think you'll be happy knowing you always have the same week--even if someone has to sleep on sofabed until you find the 2BR!
