Have an opportunity to buy 7,000 Platinum points at Sea World for $9,500 (MFs + taxes = $950). Home resort isn't that important as we are intending to book in club season and occasionally exchange into RCI resorts in non-HGVC cities.

Long term vacation interests are Florida Gulf Coast, Hawaii, South Beach, & Carlsbad. Perhaps, the overseas resorts as well.

Go for it?

I think that price is okay. It's not a steal, but it's not ridiculous either. $1/point has long been cited as a general metric, and I've seen reports of people getting 7,000 packages for less than $7,000.

Sea World has good MFs so it may warrant a modest premium, but it's more just an arms length negotiation.

HGVC is a great system and I think you would enjoy it.

Some of those properties you mentioned are Affiliates (Florida Gulf Coast), and I don't know how much inventory exists in the HGVC system for them.

Best,

Greg

The 7k every year are great sellers and hard to nail down sometimes. I paid just under 10k(fees included) resale for my Vegas one and would not have changed a thing.

Thanks to both of you for your answers. We went ahead and bought - the agent (who is one of the highly recommended ones in this forum) said the list price was right at the ROFR threshold. The rest of the properties are listed much higher and would require bargaining 15-20% off the list price.

I'm happy to hear this is a relatively easy resale prospect - we may not keep it forever and would be happy not to lose a lot of value from it.

Cheers

Mark
