DaveNV/Dave Slater RIP

I retired at age 54 in 2001 with a full Pension Benefit Package and I do not regret it.
You beat me to it. I lasted until age 62, but no pension. I had to feather my own nest via a 401-k. Oh, and I married well. :)

Trying to not take anything for granted. Living my best life now, travel when possible, accept invitations to events especially with family and friends. So sad about Dave passing. Send my condolences to Jeff and his family.

What a terrible shock. My heart goes out to his husband and family. I’m so sorry.

Dave was one of my favorites here. While I never met him, he was indeed a friend. Kind, helpful, humor that never tilted mean, and just Classic Good Guy. I’m sad that he didn’t get more time in the new home, so planned and enjoyed, but I’m thankful that he had a long term love to share all the highs and lows and incredible journey of life.

RIP Dave, you will be missed by many you touched and never met

Everything in moderation but as we get older, we cannot say tomorrow because it may never come. No regrets here with traveling and doing many things, but my late husband only made it to 64 and so unexpectedly two years ago. We are creating those special moments today and they will become a memory to us. Make it a good one.

Let things go that are not important and care and not care for many things if that makes sense. Hug, kiss and tell your loved ones what they mean to you. Enjoy the mornings listening to the birds, nature, life in general. My days will never be completely happy. I do try to start each morning thinking positive and smiling when I am out. Trying to think the same at home.

Being in this position I understand more what it means to lose a partner/spouse/companion who was my half. I feel for Jeff.

Thankfully I did not have to go back to work. I wish the younger generation took care/worried about the future a bit because we just never know.

I find I remember the good times much more than the bad. I am grateful for that. (Same for my kids’ childhoods!)
May the same be true for Jeff and Shannon.

Oh my gosh, just seeing this today, as I was in a bad car accident at work and sustained back and neck injuries.

This makes me so sad, I love reading Dave's post and his adventure on moving from CA to NV... The world has truly lost a wonderful person, and my condolences to his husband Jeff...

I hope you will have a full recovery.

Thank you to everyone who shared their memories of Dave. He really was a wonderful human being and great friend, whether you had met him in person or through the TUG forum discussions.

OMG!!! ~ What a shocker!! Don't know why I am only seeing this now. Dave was such a friendly helpful person to all, and always gave such great advise. I had only met him through his writings and adventures on TUG, but felt that I had come to know him. I enjoyed following all his travels, the loving way he talked about his husband, and their move to Nevada. He will be missed ~ RIP Dave. Condolences to his family.

Very sad news. I love to read DaveNV posts about his travels, his Costco advice and his moving adventure. We both retired and moved about the same time. My sincere condolences to Jeff and to Dave’s family. Dave, you will be missed not just on TUG.
