Just returned from Cypress Harbour. They have the proximity wrist bands to buy for use as room keys with 100% of the proceeds going to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (www.cmnhospitals.org). Nice way to raise additional donations for this worthy charity.

We stayed in a recently renovated villa. The remodeling is a significant upgrade and a very smart investment. Rest of resort in good condition as well. And the staff continue to excel at guest engagement.

Got update on the golf course project. It was sold by Marriott to a developer who will then sell the approved mixed use project to a builder(s). Our Board has done a very good job negotiating tangible and reasonable benefits for our resort.

We just stayed there for the first time last weekend and loved it. We also had a renovated unit (building directly to the right of the main building as you face it from the road). It was really nice! The activities staff was great and the kids are already asking to go back. I would concur that this resort seems to be very well-maintained and well-managed.

Has construction started on the outskirts of the resort yet?

If not, when will it start?

We have a Jan/Feb 2016 week planned.

We were in building 53. No construction yet, just an abandoned golf course.

There is work being done within the resort. But it is largely contained to one building.

We are at the resort now.
Didn't know about the golf course. It's very sad to see the brown grass and weeds. It has a negative impact on the beauty of the grounds.
That being said, Cypress Harbour is still one of our favorite resorts in Orlando.
We are in building 65, which has not yet been refurbished, but the villa is in good condition, and we have no complaints.
We will be returning to this resort in February. Will ask for a refurbished building, to see the changes.

We are going in 3 weeks. Which buildings have been refurbished? We had requested a building close to the activities center. Should we reconsider?

Sorry, I can't answer your question.
Don't know if they are doing the buildings in order.
They are working on building 60 right now - close to the activities center. Perhaps it will be finished by the time you arrive. You might want to request it!

According to the Spring 2015 Resort Newsletter (I round it on the resort page at my-vacationclub.com), at the very least, these buildings have been refurbed.....

Already, we are off to a busy 2015 with:
Completing Phase I (Buildings 50-53) of the new villa refurbishment. Yes, we have a new look, which is mostly blue and earth tones with small pops of color. This refurbishment includes new wood cabinet doors in the kitchen, new living room, dining room and guest bedroom furniture, new artwork and new patio furniture, along with soft goods replacement. Most Owners love the
serenity of the new look.

I love Cypress Harbour. It is good to hear that it is being updated.

By the way, if you live in Orlando may I ask why you own three Disney Vacation Club resorts in Lake Buena Vista. Are they used for visiting guests, or for Staycations for you and your family, or for renting out?? I am really curious. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Thanks.

I was told today that #60 is still being renovated----and #50 - #53 were done before that.

So, I put in a request for a few weeks away..............we'll see.

We were just there last week as well. We love CH but are greatly concerned by the sell-off and future development plans around it. Marriott did a great dis-service by not creating/offering buffer zones to protect the resort. I get that they aren't in the golf course business and cash is cash they can use for other projects, but I can't help but see this as a devaluation. Hope the development takes forever.. I can't imagine who will buy a $500k house in that congested tourist area. Hope they enjoy night-time noise and entertainment across the lake every week!!

Really though, CH is our favorite in Orlando. It has absolutely everything to offer a family in terms of amenities and activities. The staff is always friendly and the grounds well-maintained. We are really hoping that the intended privacy wall and 'enhanced landscaping' mitigate some of the concern. I believe the HOA is still negotiating with the developer over concessions for a right-of-way access they need access to that the HOA currently controls.

Hope the board sticks it to em to protect our investments.

Press Harbour Golf Course Issue

I have been trying to follow the developments regarding the golf course and was aware of the owner association's efforts. Are there details available as to where things are at the moment.

I don't have the details about what is currently happening there, but I know the BOD is doing everything it can to protect the resort. We have always loved CH and are concerned the Board will not be able to do enough, despite their efforts and commitment. Part of the appeal of the resort was the peaceful view of the golf course across the quiet lake. There is no way it can be as nice with houses over there. We're just hoping development doesn't start for a long time...

Building 56 for us! It was very quiet... It has not been renovated yet but all was in working order. Bit of a walk to the pool and activities but after all the holiday eating I suppose that was a good thing!
