We got a call from "Corporate in Kirkland, WA" yesterday and they tried to sell us an upgrade (or add on) to our Founder's Level (we have 2+M purchased points of which 1M is PR). [Yes I know a lot of purchased points, parents liked to buy at sales]. We now manage the account a little more conservatively (albeit dad sold an older property for "Access" points last year because he hated the property) and now we have a few more points, plus some "bonus" points that expire this year.

Well the sales rep from Kirkland wanted to have us buy the "bonus" points in an effort to make them permanent to our account and get the added value of having "Corporate Membership" which is even better than calling PR to get service. This sales rep would be our personal concierge and we could get everything taken care of directly through him, not need to use PR when you have a personal concierge. Also, we wouldn't ever be pestered for a "sales" meeting again on our stays.

We declined, didn't really need more points, nor any special concierge.

But, Anyone else hear / have this type of interaction? New Corporate level concierge status?

I know nothing about your phone call but…

“This sales rep would be our personal concierge”

“we wouldn't ever be pestered for a "sales" meeting again on our stays.”

…Are two lies to make a sale.

Wyndham Corporate offices are in Orlando, FL. So that would be a red flag for me

There is a corporate phone sales office in Kirkland, so it's almost certainly legit in terms of actually being Wyndham. The personal concierge thing is a common sales lie though.

Paxsarah is correct. There is a corporate sales office in Kirkland and one other location I can't remember right now (Vegas?).
One advantage of going through corporate is that the price is about 1/2 the "retail" price you get at the resorts. My corporate guy was more experienced than most at the resorts and got me on the "do not tour" list and facilitated my PIC property. It was great...because in order to PIC, you have to make a retail purchase from Wyndham and it's cheaper via corporate.

I also felt that my corporate sales guy was very honest. This was very refreshing.

Maybe it's done geographically, but there's a telesales office in Orlando and the couple of times I have dealt with them, they were Orlando people.

I would imagine, since the sales peeps at corporate are dealing with people who, generally, already know they want to buy, there's less pressure (on both parties) and better deals are given as the purchaser probably knows the system so the sales person knows they can't bs as much.

Also, pretty sure there's a corporate sales office in Salt Lake

I've had at least five salespersons say they would be our "concierge" and book our reservations for us. Four of them were liars. The other one died.
