Trying to find 4 tickets to HNL from LAX, AA and United both require 140,000 miles. According to my MVCI Vacation Advisor, I have two choices:
  • Take a travel package for 320,000 MRP including 7 days at 1-5 Hotel
  • Use 390,000 MRP for just the 140,000 miles
I have the MRP miles but it seems pricey - no?

If you reserve far enough ahead you can get seats for less miles.I have 4 seat from LAX to HNL next April on United and it was 35,000 miles each.I requested them April of this year. Can't wait to see Ko Olina again.:cheer:

On the other hand we had to use 140000 miles each for first class on US Air BWI to HNL next summer when United was showing for 70000 as a super fare but we did not have access to them from the Star Alliance program. It seems to be that the partner programs do get get the same tickets one can get from their specifc airline. I keep watching and if we can get enough United points I will deposit and rebook for the fee. FF seats are getting more difficult to find even a year out.
