We are owners at the Westin Nanea in Maui but would like to go to stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort on Hawaii. Is it possible to convert StarOptions to Marriott Bonvoy points to stay there? What's the process and how what the exchange rate (How many Bonvoy points do I get for each StarOption). Hope that makes sense! Thanks in advance for any insight or assistance you may have.

Your dashboard on Vistana.com should give you all the information you need (how many, how much, when etc.). It's specific to your circumstances. General consensus is it's probably the worst thing you can do, or the 2nd worst thing if you bought from the developer.

Generally you can multiply your number of StarOptions by 1.56 to get the Bonvoy points equivalent. However you also have to add in $145 transaction fee for every time you do a conversion. You can either convert the entire amount of StarOptions in your contract or in increments of 20,000. For the current year usage, you have to have elected by March 31st of the current year. I think you can elect for next year 9 months ahead of that deadline but I'm not certain. FYI - that transaction fee may go away when/if your VSN Club dues are raised up to Marriott levels in a couple months when the link up between the programs happens.

As others here stated, it can be done if your ownership was not purchased on the resale market. But realistically, you may get only 2-4 nights at the hotel you are looking to go to depending on how many points you get for your ownership. Conversion to Bonvoy points is generally a terrible option and gets worse with each devaluation of Bonvoy points since conversion ratios are fixed. That said, it was a decent option of last resort for some owners in 2020 when everything was shut down...

A more attractive option to consider may be to reserve a week at Nanea, rent it out, and now you have cash to use on a hotel. It's a bit more effort but that is likely to get you a much better bang for your buck.

You may want to rent your unit then take the cash and make a reservation though the bonvoy app. You’ll likely get more nights that way
