does anyone know anything about Consumer Protection Group, LLC. Mission Viejo, CA.

Sent me a letter claiming to start a lawsuit against First Star Properties, Five Star Resort Marketing and others. Will take half of the fees sent to the marketing outfit when they win case. No upfront charges. Also, you relinquish any right to ever recover fees.

If you go through the Attorney-General of the state where these scammers are located, they will charge you no commission.

Beware to that these so-called recovery firms are just a continuation of the original scam. They might even be the same people who originally scammed you in the first place or they might "be in bed" with them.

Ask yourself this question. This firm that contacted you, how did they know that you got scammed?

We've heard how how some of these so-called firms scam people. They get the original scammer to credit your credit card for the amount you got scammed (say, $1000). Then the firm gets you to send it its 50% cut of $500. After the firm gets the cheque, somehow the credit on your credit card gets reversed - perhaps because the original scammer legally fulfilled its service for which you contracted and paid. Now you're out an additional $500.
