Considering the sale of our timeshare at Summer Bay

We are thinking about selling our three bedroom, Summer Bay timeshare in Florida (week 47, which is sometimes Thanksgiving week). We also have approximately 100,000 RCI points assoicated with it. I have a few questions:

1) Can we sell just the unit, but keep the points?

2) If #1 is possible, I suspect selling just the unit would be much more difficult than selling both the unit and the points. Correct?

We have never stayed at our unit during week 47 and have never really considered doing so. Staying there for one week would consume all of the RCI points we have that are associated with our week. Correct? This question is more along the lines of how timeshares work instead of a sales related question.

One reason we are considering selling our week is that we now have a small dog. It has been difficult finding a timeshare using RCI points that accept dogs. Any advice about using RCI points with a small dog?

Most places won’t accept dogs, This may require a kennel visit for your dogs.

You can stay at Summerbay at times for much less than your points just book as an exchange don’t click on home resort option but look at exchange vacations and pick a time, getting the 3 bedroom might be hard this way, but 1 and 2 fairly easy.

As far as selling nobody will probably take it unless you transfer the RCI Points account as part of the deal.

You can keep the 2017 and 2018 points and sell (give away) with usage starting in 2019. There is nothing that generates points ongoing if you don't have the unit. So if you sell (give away) the unit regardless of whether the new owner keeps it in points or weeks, once you run out of your current points that's all there is.
