Hello!

Two questions:

Is the relationship between Wyndham and Worldmark such that we'd be better off getting some points with each?

and

What's the deal with RCI?

Thanks
Ashleen

Same Parent Company Owns Both Wyndham & R. C. I.

What's the deal with RCI?
The company that owns Wyndham timeshares also owns RCI.

To hear the Wndham timeshare sellers talking about it, that would mean Wyndham timeshare owners have an inside track with RCI leading to big advantages over non-Wyndham timeshare owners when it comes to arranging timeshare exchanges.

Whether that's true is a matter for somebody with actual knowledge to comment on. We are RCI members & we own some nice timeshares, but ours are all non-Wyndham -- not that there's anything with any of'm.

For Wyndham and Worldmark, yes, at least for this moment and any forseeable future.

They and RCI both owned by the same parent company. Besides that, it is just regualr exchange company deal. like HGVC and RCI, Bluegreen and RCI ...

Wyn and Rci.

As a Wyndham/FF owner, i would NOT say "we" have an inside track on RCI exchanges (exactly the opposite).

I WOULD say, there is an advantage in exchanging for Wyn/FF weeks within RCI - but not for anything else.

Although there is some shared inventory ( very limited) between Wyndham/FF and Worldmark (WM). If you want to visit mostly WM resorts, buy WM and don't count on being able to get into WM by using FF (or RCI).

PS you'd never buy a Chevy hoping that it was a Cadillac just because they are both owned by GM? Same is true with FF, WM & RCI.

re Wyndham-Worldmark confusion

I'm still a little confused. What I think I'm hearing is that although the two companies are owned by the same people, if I want to be able to go to both Wyndham and WorldMark resorts, I should buy both Wyndham and WorldMark points -- and enough of each to get what I want from each? But there are some exchange or combination possibilities between them, is that right? And how do those points relate to RCI properties?

Yeah, they each has a exchange program to share about 10 to 20 different resorts from each other. each resorts has about 1 to 2 units offer for the purpose of this kind of exchange.

As to RCI, you need to deposit to RCI to make change. RCI does not provide anything special here. You use your points to make reservation internally that worth RCI exchange basd on their agreement with RCI. So these points has nothing to do with RCI properties.

WorldMark is not owned by Wyndham, it's managed/developed-for by Wyndham.

There is very limited inventory that is bookable from one to the other (around 60 total condo units - about 2 each at around 30 resorts).

As stated, don't buy one and count on being able to get a unit in the other.
