Computer Problem (?) AVG detects High usage for Internet Explorer (226MB)

I am getting a message on most days that:
(similar, but not exact wording)

AVG has detected High Usage from the following program-- Internet Explorer.
We recommend closing the program and reopening.

Today it was 226 MB, sometimes its 256 MB, etc.

I recently replaced my router, and got rid of most of my previously posted problems; but not this one.
(also, a bit slower, especially the FIRST time opening IE)

Is it a concern?

Any ideas?

I found this from a simple Google search. It is a response from the AVG Team about a similar warning message:

Please be informed that Advisor feature is designed to warn user that there could be a memory leak in your browser (in a script or a flash within a visited website, respectively). AVG records an average amount of memory used by a browser and is regularly checking the value during browser usage. In case the memory consumption is significantly increased, user is informed about possible memory leak. Browser re-start is recommended in such scenario.

In case you would like to disable AVG Advisor (this may be handy in case you are used to work with internet browser differently than most users), you may proceed as follows:

1) Open AVG user interface and press F8.

2) Select the Appearance item in the left tree.

3) Untick the Display AVG Advisor performance notifications option

4) This will disable both the notifications and memory usage monitoring.

5) Click OK to save any changes.

I'd been plagued by that darn pop-up a couple of times a day since loading the new, 'updated' AVG. Not enough to worry me, just bothersome to close the pop-up every time. Thanks, Jim. It was a very easy fix.

So, it's not 'really' a problem?

There's no other (Non-AVG) things I need to do?
(tha'ts assuming I can figure out to do what was suggested earlier :whoopie: )

I would first go into the task manager and make sure there aren't any processes running that might be hogging resources (ctrl+alt+del and then click on processes tab). If there aren't, I'd just disable the warning as detailed previously. I'd hazard a guess that your system is fine since Jim R was getting the same warning. Sounds like an "enhancement" to the AVG software.

Been there. Done that. Just ignore the warnings.
