Hello-

I received an email from Comcast advertising their Energy Rewards program guaranteeing a 5% lower rate than my current provider (PG&E in the SF Bay Area) for the next 12 months. They also offered $20 debit cards to enroll in the program along with other perks. I tried to research some reviews on this program but couldn't find anything so I thought I'd try here. Does anyone have an opinion on this? I never heard about this until today and it just seemed odd that my cable/internet provider would be offering this. Here's a link:

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I wouldn't. If you go to Comcast.com and search Energy Rewards, it doesn't seem to know what you're talking about.

When you get right down to it, what does a gas water heater have to do with cable tv??

I'd call my local Comcast and report it as maybe it's legit but doesn't smell right. If Comcast also smells a rat, potentially they will alert media and save many people from scam.

It's legit - just Comcast trying a few pilot states

I decided to give it a try. What's Comcast got to do with natural gas (all they offer in CA) - nothing - but then again, what's our local county government got to do with electricity when they sneakily signed us up unless we opted out during a timeframe we were out of the country...

Worth a try with winter coming up. A few freebies, but a 5% saving. Nothing to get too excited about but might add up to dinner and a movie out...
