Hi everyone ... hope everyone safe and healthy on your end.
Coconut Cove question(s).
We have stayed long time ago in a 2 bedroom unit. Kids are older and now need a 2br unit as well as a studio unit for our stay (tentative late July 2025). We know nothing of the studio layout and how people like them. Also would get your opinion on how easy it is to get the studio unit close to the 2br unit when reserving. Is there a best building to ask for now? My older teens love basketball ... do they still have a court there to play on and has anyone been out there to know if it is busy or not? Best sight to get the most updated pics of the 2br and studio units?
Any advice or tips would be great appreciated. THANK YOU for your time and help.

I know they have a basketball court that also used to be configured for pickleball also. You may want to call the resort about that.

There are only four buildings, so you won't be that far apart. Hopefully they can work out the same building. Each building has 3 floors, and the inner 4 rooms are true 2br units (not lockoffs) that sleep six and have the 2nd bedroom with twin beds. Then there are 2 2br lockoffs on both ends - and the lockoff has a shared entry. You have to go back thru the small entry hallway to get to the other room- so they are truly separated. So each floor has 8 2brs - which is really 4 2br, 4 1br and 4 studios.

The studios there are large for a studio and very comfortable. You also have a large lanai and a sleeper sofa and king bed. The 1 br has a king bed and a sofa in the living room - so they actually have sleeping for 8 with 2 sleeper sofas. So you need to determine which 2br works better for you also, since both types are distinctly different. When booking you will know based on max occupancy (6 vs 8).

It is a beautiful resort but very quiet and isolated (which can be good). But there is much to do between the amenties and beach and lazy river and pools.

Thank you so much for taking time to reply ... VERY much appreciated. One follow up question if you happen to know. Does the studio have a kitchen or way to cook food and frig? Take care and stay safe!

Yes the studio has a mini kitchen. No stovetop/pots and pans but does have a small sink, dishes for 4, microwave and a small but not tiny fridge. We take breakfast and lunch stuff with us.

The lanai is large so you can eat there. I am thinking there are 4 chairs with the table plus a pool type full length chair.

If only the studios at Sunset Harbor were like this ...

Thanks so much for the reply. Very much appreciated! I hear you on the Sunset studio units as I own there. Crazy they would have the worst studio unit layouts of any place I have stayed at. Take care and stay safe ... regards to your family.

@Knobby I just returned from a 4 night stay that I booked through Hyatt.com (I'm not an owner.) I recommend asking for Building #4 because I found out that is the only building that is renovated. The 2BR is spacious. I've uploaded pictures to Tug's review page for this property. Here are a few.

Actually, i don't believe building 4 was renovated - it was built a good bit later than the first 3 buildings. The original plan was for around 14 buildings and it was halted after finding a protected eagle nest. Then after a recession they eventually built a 4th building so that they had HPP inventory to sell.

Now they have sold the land around them and they may or may not have room for one more building.

So building 4 is newer. I can say one of my only complaints about building 4 studios is the sink is so absurdly small it is hard to fit a full size dish in to wash.

I didn't know building 4 is newer ! Everything still looks great. Here are more pics. The appliances looked new.

Does anyone know if buildings 1-3 have been renovated to match the newer look of building 4?

Although buildings 1-3 look very similar to building 4, it is obvious that building 4 is much newer, especially the look of the bathroom. We were there a couple weeks ago and heard that a full interior update is planned for buildings 1-3 in 2028 or 2029. It was described as a complete remodel with new cabinets, appliances, flooring, and furniture.

Construction was halted a long ago due to a some sort of rare eagles nest. Then the crash of 2008-9. When HPP got started, they resumed building with building4 and i suspect all of that inventory was sold as HPP. So building 4 is not remodeled - it is just newer.

For all of building 4's charm, the sink in the studios is tiny and hard to even get a plate into.

Thank you both - very helpful!
