We have 3 weeks locked down and trying to decide on a nice area to stay in on the ocean since we have never stayed there. We are a retired couple and would love to find a place where we can sit on the balcony enjoying the view of the ocean. When I do my research I can learn about the resorts but I am more interested in finding the right locations. Any suggestions please? :)

I wasn't trying to be funny- just helpful.
What did you mean by "coastal ocean side?"
Are you interested in the west coast, (Gulf of Mexico side), or the east coast, (Atlantic Ocean side)?

We may or may not be right on the Atlantic. Some towns are better to stay in regardless of interests. For example we love Bonita Springs. We have always vacationed on the gulf side and now we want to spend a week on the Atlantic side. Just trying to find an area to spend a week that others really like. So is it Cocoa Beach, Fort Lauderdale or another place? Recommendations please.

My $0.02 worth...

I'm not going to recommend one area over another, but if you decide to go to the Daytona Beach area, look more specifically at facilities in Daytona Beach Shores if you want to be right on the ocean.
I stayed at the Dolphin Beach Club there once, for example, and it was literally on the beach there.
That said, I still personally much prefer the Gulf side overall. To each his / her own...

But it is much harder to get into the Gulf side, whereas there are MANY places on the Atlantic side. We usually stay there because of that.

been to lots of places there, please see our BLOG.

when are you thinking of staying.....time of year makes a HUGE difference....

For instance, we own fixed weeks in January in St Augustine. It used to be warm then - in the 70s - now it is often in the 50's...not so nice, but better than up NORTH then!!

we love Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, but have also stayed there at Tropic Sun Towers which was RIGHT on the beach too.

We love Driftwood Inn at Vero Beach - read Bruce's review to get a taste for this unusual place. We also like Cocoa Beach, have stayed at 2 places there. We also love Oceanique but hard to get in.....

we like down in ft lauderdale too and pampano beach Wyndham units...

Oh, have I used the word "love" too often???? Just shows you we enjoy traveling around where it is WARM.

write for more info, if you wish

Cocoa Beach is much quieter than Daytona or areas further south. The Resort on Cocoa Beach is right on the beach and when there is a cold Atlantic wind and the sun is shinning, the pool located on the west side of the resort is protected and many times very hot. There is a small movie theatre on the resort. Shopping virtually across the street. We're spending 4 weeks there this winter.

That's great to be able to say there that long - the pool is always awesome!
