Hi ~ we own at the Bay Voyage, haven't been there in a while, but it's such a nice area. Here are a few pointers from my reviews: One day we took a tour of Fort Adams (Newport) ~ this was really interesting, learned a lot of things we didn’t know ~ and we had a great time, well worth the small admission fee. Another day we took a ferry over to Block Island. We drove down to the port of Galilee and took the car ferry. Although having the car was nice, Block Island is so small, and where the ferry docks is in the middle of the area where most of the shops and restaurants are, we really didn’t need to bring it. We took an early ferry over, and the last one back, which in my opinion, was a little too much time. If we were to go back I think we would probably take the Fast Ferry out of Newport, leave the car on the mainland, and probably only plan to be on the island for 5 - 6 hours. Earlier in the week we visited the Old Windmill on the Island, which wasn’t too far from the resort, and was really interesting. Be sure to picnic out on the grass in Beavertail State Park. The Bay Voyage is about an hour from our home, so we’ll always stop here to check around a bit, before continuing on. This time we were not only greeted by friendly staff, but we also noticed new shingles on parts of the outside of the building, showing that there had been even more work done. Inside we were delighted to find that since they had removed the old leaking hot tub, they had done extensive renovations on the fitness room. There are still the exercise machines, but now there is a wall mounted flat screen TV, an ice machine, a soda machine, a water cooler, and two washers and dryers. This last bit of news was the most exciting, as now it’s possible to do a mid week wash right there. Jamestown is a sleepy little town, where there isn’t a whole lot to do except explore Beavertail State Park, with its lighthouse and museum, or picnic on the rocks. Jamestown was a strategic spot for our Nations defense during WWII, and you can spend many a day exploring Fort Wetherill. We spent a day over in Newport - walking around the town. We parked at the Visitors Center, and rode the trolley - unlimited trips all day with this pass, and all day parking at the Center is just $2.00. We drove out to Point Judith one day - beautiful lighthouse and wonderful views. On the way, we passed Adventure land - a family fun place that had go carts, bumper boats, batting cages, and mini-golf.

These tips are from 3 separate reviews, so there might be some repeats in there. We also love to go over to Newport, (just over the bridge ~ park at the Visitors Center), ~ and just go walk, explore, or just sit and people watch. Our favorite unit there is room 201, a corner unit with a deck with views from the Newport Bridge, to Fort Adams State Park in Newport across the Bay and on out to the Atlantic Ocean. (If you have binoculars bring them ~ you'll see lots of cruise ships!) That particular unit may not be available, (it's owned by a quarter share owner). If it's not available, request a bay view with a deck.

Most of Jamestown is within walking distance two restaurants nearby are The Tavern, & Chopmist Charlies, there's more over in Newport. If I can be of any other help, just ask. Oh ............ and have a great vacation!!

We stayed at Bay Voyage Inn in 2011. It was a nice place. I wrote a review. I would like to stay there again if the opportunity came up .
