Club Regina/Raintree enhanced with points

Does anyone own a club regina/raintree that is enhanced with points?

I am hoping someone can explain how this works? what is 40,000 RVC points worth in RCI Points?

Does it work just like RCI Points or is it different? any other information would be appreciated.

Raintree Points

RAintree points are just like RCI points from what I understood from our rep. They showed us how our 40,000 pts. could be used to exchange for different size units or seasons by looking places up in RCI book. You could also split weeks or use them for airline tickets etc. Hope this info helps.

40,000 “points” equals a “gold membership” - It depends on the resort, size of unit, or time of year- what type of unit that will buy you- i.e. week 1 at Puerto Vallarta- you can have a one bedroom- but it you went in week 12- you would only get a studio- or if you went week 18 you could get a 2 bedroom. - The week and the resort will determine the size of unit.

Raintree points are "sort of" like RCI points- Raintree pays for your membership in RCI on the "weeks" side- to make reservations you need to call Raintree vacations reservation number- and they will search for points resorts and if on that day – there is one available then you can trade- if not they do an on going search they are using the weeks inventory. Due to the fact the points inventory is like hotel reservation system- if there is a unit when you search – you get it. If you want to search RCI resorts yourself- with out using the Raintree/RCI reservation telephone system - you have to pay addition fees.

When you want to make reservations or trades- you call the Raintree reservation number, and you will get a person employed by RCI, that works the Raintree account- They can tell you the amount of points it will be to reserve the dates, and units you have in mind. We have never had any trouble reserving Club Regina resorts for when we want to go- I have had marginal luck with trades. But the Club Regina's in Mexico are all so comfortable and nice we normally are quite happy going to the Club Regina resorts.

We have just purchased a gold raintree w/points. We purchased (resale) so we could travel with family who had just purchased a t/s. Unfortunately they had purchased from the resort and it was too late to cancel when I found out.

They dont know a lot about the system and I am still waiting for my purchase to go through. We travel to mexico at least once or twice a year so I know this would be a good match. I am just trying to learn some of the ins/outs of the program.

I like that it had points since I can deposit some of my other t/s located in the Bahamas that doesnt trade well into the account and maybe get better trades with that unit since it would have a high PFD value.

We were going to go in Feb. but we cant get the airfare to work so we are looking at going to Cancun in Mid-Late April. Is that a good time of the year and would it be hard to get bonus time?

Our use year is may-may each year.

Raintree can be confusing- but with a little work- you can get maximium vacation -
I checked the chart- weeks, 12,13,16,17- you would have a 1 bedroom- weeks 18-23 you would get a 2 bedroom- that is the max- if you take something less - you will retain some points- we found out that there are very few 2 bedrooms with a ocean view- others are in the back-they call them a "lagoon" view- but they are really view of some palms and the road- we were there two years ago- so don't remember how many 2 bedrooms there were-not many- our plane was late so we ended up first in a "lagoon view" the first night- but with some "discussions" we ended up with an ocean view the next day.
The Cancun resort is the oldest of the Club Regina's in Mexico- it is located at the end of the hotel zone- but the bus service is great- the staff is wonderful, and so helpful- units very clean- but, when we were there- internet access was not convenient- but we were on vacation right?
if you have time- and you like a small resort- try Raintree Vacations Villa Vera at Lsla Muyeres is really a great treat- older, small- great staff - only the one bedroom villa has a kitchen- and there is not many of those- the other "suites" just have a small bar type refer-and a coffee pot- but there is pool cafe and lots of places to eat in town- not on the ocean- but on a waterway. The island is really a treat.

I think we are going to change our dates and go in May. This way we can get a one bedroom and a hotel unit and we can bring my other sister-in law with us.

I cant wait to get online to learn all about raintree.

I do have a questions, what is sun rewards and does resale units have this option?

We have not done much with Sun Rewards- you get those when you purchase from the resort or upgrade your membership - or introduce someone that buys directly from the resort- We bought from the resort - I have no idea if they give them to someone that buys on a resale- Every so often we get a new "representative" calling or e-mailing asking for referrals- but have never participated- we have never been successful in "selling some else" into buying- We did get some Sun Rewards when we upgraded- and were able to use them as a credit toward some annual fees. We don't worry to much with them.

If I am posting in the wrong thread, I apologize.

I have talked to several Raintree people and several WJ people. Wj owners who joined Raintree thru WJ have the ability to use weeks or points at owner's discretion. There is a fee of $54 to use points. This is true for the majority of Raintree owners (so I have been told). I have posted on thread in points board because of the confusion that WJ and Raintree has caused for owners and Raintree counselors.

The website riblack posted has copies of newsletters and letters that supposedly have gone out to Raintree members. I only received one of those.

I also had problems with that site because it would not let me hit each page. I had to send email to Raintree to get problem resolved.

Suns Program

It takes 2000 suns to equal $100. The suns do expire if you forget to apply them, so when making a reservation, I usually check to see how many suns I have and ask them to apply them to my following year's maintenance fees.
When you make a reservation or spend money at the resort while there, they give you som points accordingm to what you spend. They are not a big deal, unless you send someone there who buys from the resort. Then they credit you with 10,000 points which is worth $500.
