Amen sister!

The truly sad thing is to see some naive buyers (such as the poor suckers buying into the Planet Hollywood Tower of Terror) actually think Westgate will deliver what they are promised and will be fair to deal with as owners. We who actually have OWNED a Westgate know it simply will not happen and do our best to dissuade those being conned by slick presentations & high pressure from parting with tens of thousands of dollars they will certainly live to regret.

Keep on fighting the good fight as those who poo poo the warnings today will at some point realize the terrible choice they made and are unlikely to come back and say "you were right". If we save a few from the evil that is Wastegate we've done all we can - you can't protect people from every danger. At least we've tried to warn them.

Yes timeos2, you did warn me!! Unfortunately I didnt get your warnings soon enough. I may be stuck for awhile. Either that or buy into another timeshare resort that does trade. I wish I would have found this site before I bought!! But, I have to admit, you do try to warn people. The good news is, it cost me less than $2000 total spent....the bad news is, I could have used that $2000 and bought into someplace else!! :crash:

Ok....I am having a hard time accepting this so I just called II. They confirmed that members have to call Westgate and make the deposit with Westgate. Once they deposit with Westgate, they can then call II and make a reservation. Now this makes no sense to me. But I am not a member or owner yet so I cannot test to see if there is any truth to this. Can someone please contact II with a membership number and see what they tell you. Until my contract is complete and the ink is dry, neither Westgate or II is going to give me any information. So I would like someone with membership and ownership to call and confirm this. I dont know why Westgate needs to have all their own units for exchange...but then again....maybe its because NO ONE WANTS ANYMORE WESTGATE UNITS SO THEY HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL!!! I really dont think their units or ownership of their units is so much in demand that this extra step of depositing with them is necessary....am I wrong? Or can someone explain this to me like I'm a 6 year old?????

You are right. I am an unfortunate Westgate owner and you have to call Westgate each year and be on hold for about an hour and finally talk to someone and ask them to deposit your week into II. It typically takes a few days and the week finally shows up in II. Then you can do your exchange online on II using that week. For whatever reason you cannot just deposit the week yourself into II online. I think this may be a game to screw people with a floating week. Westgate probably deposits whatever crappy week they have into II. I have a fixed week and almost every year except one they deposited the week I own. I didn't realize this earlier but when I looked at the history online a couple of months ago I saw that one year Westgate deposited a different week. And I also find that Westgate doesn't have a lot of trading power. When you try to exchange online your choices will be limited. Even though a lot of good weeks will show up under Getaways they will not show up under exchange. Could be because II can make more money on these or could be because Westgate doesn't exchange with these or both.

Hmmm, one doesn't exist yet and the other two haven't felt the full wrath of the Kings minions. I think they cclaim 30+ resorts so you can see the odds that somehow, someway these will miraculously escape the total mangling of owners rights are below zero. Its only a matter of time.

II plays along - hope your ownership can be in RCI

II is in bed with the Wastegate organization. The only hope you have is that any Westgate you own was at one time an RCI resort. If it was you can continue to get your LEGALLY DEEDED WEEK as the one and only deposit accepted - and no need to call Wastegate to get it. The whole idea of a deeded week is avoiding the "problems" of needing to make a reservation & getting a week you desire. But, of course, that may benefit an owner so Wastegate has intruded, most likely illegally, into the process and denied you your deeded week if you want to trade it. Needless to say II kowtows and says "nothing we can do - it's an owner problem". Funny, RCI stands up if it's members and gets the deeded week you own. So who has the problem? Owners of Westgate of course but made worse by II (and you pay them for that?).

You can very simply deposit your deeded week with II. Call and get your reservation number from Westgate then call II or use the II website to deposit your exact week. I do this every year and just deposited my July 2010 week a few weeks ago.

You want what you bought? Why would they do that?

Since they only sell deeded, fixed week WHY would anyone have to call to "get a reservation number"? You own it - its a fixed use week - you deposit it or use it. That is simple and the way it works in 99% of timeshare ownerships that are fixed week. It's the way RCI does it even at Westgate resorts. Only II - in their never ending quest to ensure no paying member goes unpunished - allows Westgate to get involved and demands a reservation number AND will accept whatever week Westgate assigns rather than your legally deeded use week/unit. There is no defense for that (or Westgate/II for that matter). Don't be railroaded by these convicted (in the case of Westgate - II may have avoided that so far) thugs. Demand what you legally bought & pay for.

I deposited my week this year by emailing Westgate (prefer not to telephone from the UK as you usually have to wait in a queue for at least 15 mins).

However, I must say that it took about 4 weeks of chasing to get them to do it. Then emailing II to get them to chase up. Eventually it was dealt with.

Last year they deposited a slightly earlier week than mine. This year I noticed that the same weeks are deposited. However, my week is 44, so it isn't a popular week in any case.

And now please explain the logic of why, when you own fixed week X, you have to:

1) Call to "reserve it"
2) Chase them for hours/days/weeks to "confirm" it
3) Take a week that ISN'T your deeded week
4) Why II plays along

This is a prime example of the nightmare an ownership at Wetsgate truly is. Too bad you can't deposit your time with RCI and get credit for what you actually own.

I own at Wastegate lakes.

I continue to have hope that one day they will screw over the wrong folks and the next thing we see is national news.

I would like to have a listing of all Wastegate Owners and a bunch of us put together something that would get national attention.

I seriusly doubt there are any happy Wastegate owners out there.

Last year I went on II and changed my week for another week in Wastegate. They of course lied to me and I could not go in July, so I made the trade and paid the fee of $135 through II.

I will not stay at another Wastegate unless I am forced to.

Some of the folks who own WestGate ski resort timeshares seem OK with those.

And there is still a measure of enthusiasm out there for Planet Hollywood Towers in Las Vegas.

Just wait till reality sets in, eh ?

Oh Good Grief....as a new owner to be that doesn't sound good to me:annoyed: ...oh geez....is it really gonna be that bad for me???:( Something tells me as soon as the ink is dry on my purchase, I better look for a NEW owner to sell to! Even though I got the $.99 deal on ebay...I guess I better hope I can trade thru II without a problem. I am week #22 so that just made it out of "value" weeks to the next level. I am not at premium so I still have to pay the exchange fee, but it will only be around $135 to trade to another resort thru II I guess.....oh who knows...this story just keeps getting worse and worse as the days roll by!!

You will just have to see how things go when you deal with them. I have had nothing but trouble with my experiences. The only contact I have with them is when they want to charge me something for sell me something. I am a member of II and I plan to use them in the future and pay the fee to exchange.

There could NOT be any worse time share out there than Wastegate.
