As the season progresses, I will post links to various songs in my library, many secular and some sacred. I don’t expect that everyone will enjoy everything. If you don’t like it, just move on and appreciate that others might enjoy it. But I believe that unless you are an utter Scrooge, there will be at least a few items that you can enjoy

Temptations - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

That was in the queue. But that's ok - I'll just pick another track from their Sound of Christmas album.

And others - a la DrQ, use this thread to share links to your favorite holiday music. Let's set aside rancor and anger, and instead celebrate the season.

Santa Baby with a Chicago twist:
While enjoying this song, think good thought for Judy Roberts as she battles amyloidosis.

Staying in my personal soul music lane - this is one of my favorite James Brown songs. This is gospel James Brown, with strings; not funky James Brown with horns.

Sorry about the illustration, but that IS what the original album cover looks like.

To be honest Guy, I wondered what this Christmas Music is. It could be played for any holiday. That's jazz.

Yes - but it's all themes based on Christmas music. As the season progresses I'll be add some jazz selections.

Our favorite Christmas album is Wintersong from Sarah McLachlan.

The next window to be opened in the calendar:

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy did a good cover, but what a set of pipes from the original - Thurl Ravenscroft:

Hi Guy, I did listen to this again and while I didn't notice this the first time I did notice this time that the beginning of the tune is a Christmas Carrol so I was wrong about the other holidays bit. It's the jazz version of God Bless ye Merry Gentlemen. I didn't recognized this at first hearing but that's jazz.

Bonus track:
Arthur Lyman had a niche in america with exotia music with faux Polynesia music and wild sounds. Popular in the 1950's and 1960's:

Today - the beautiful baritone voice of Jubilant Sykes performing "Mary Did You Know". Of the many renditions of this song, Jubilant remains my favorite.

I'll put up two versions: one a live performance; the other a track from his "Jubilant" CD. The audio on the live performance isn't as good as the recording [duh], but for me seeing the performance more than makes up for the difference.

Personal note: the CD is how I first learned of Jubilant. I was prowling in the bins of a used CD store in Federal Way, Washington during lunch one day, when I found that CD. It looked interesting, and the price was right, so I picked it up. It's a worthy acquisition, if you like black gospel done by an operatically trained African-American. Very much in the style of Paul Robeson.

This is an alternative indie type group we like named Pomplamoose. We first heard this group a few years ago at a friends party.
