We have a short 3 night stay booked in Orlando in August. I'm always researching for ways to save and maximize points. I seldom leave points on the table, usually borrow points from the next year. I logged into our HGVC account, and clicked the "Alert" notice. Saw a "Stay and Save" notification. HGVC Sea World had a 45-25% discount on points during my already booked time period. We are there during the weekend, so I only qualified for the 25% point savings. I ended up saving over 400 points by switching from another resort. Granted I had to pay another $79 booking fee.

So, be sure to check those "Alerts", you may find a doable short notice trip that works for you, or like me, save some points on an already planned trip!

If you had changed your reservation online instead of cancelling and rebooking, you would not have had to pay another reservation fee.

The OP said that their reservation was in August. So that would have been within 60 non-changeable reservation window.

but you just paid almost 20 cents for points didn't you?
