Has anyone stayed at this timeshare since hurricane Katrina devastated the area in 2005? We have reservations there in early November and would appreciate any info you could share regarding condition of this resort. Thank you.

I own at Chateau LeGrand but it is a Week 46 so you will beat me there. I'm curious but, based on everything that was replaced, it must be better than before Katrina. Don't know about the rest of Biloxi though.

GEORGE

We drove thru the Biloxi/Gulfport area a few weeks ago. Most of the lovely old homes that were built looking out at the Gulf are gone. Lots of cement slabs and steps leading up to what "used to be". All the casinos seemed to be up and running better than before.

We didn't stay in the area, so I'm not familiar with anything else at all.

I called on another Biloxi resort for next summer. The lady at the resort was very upbeat and positive, saying they are making great progress and that it is a great area for a family vacation.

However, much of the beach is still not open and that resort does not have their pool back yet. She said the units themselves were not damaged, but the office was extensively damaged.

My nephew is here this week and he and his brother spent a long time in MS doing Katrina cleanup. He said he doubted that any of that area could be pretty yet.

Some of the casinos are somewhat open.

We passed for now.

A reunion

We're going to the Beau Rivage (sister of Bellagio, I believe, in Biloxi) in Nov. to see the Smothers Brothers. We saw them on our first date at a neighborhood bar in Cleveland OH many, many years ago.

I emailed their website and the reply said "great letter" and that they were sending it to Tom and Dick. I titled it a reunion and told about a song I remembered them singing.

It will be sad to see all the Katrina aftermath.

I just returned from a weekend at the Hard Rock Casino (next to Beau Rivage) and the casinos are wide open and awesome. The rest of the gulf coast is sad. Empty homesites with nothing or only Fema trailers where grand southern homes used to be. I saw Chateau Legrand from the road but didn't go inside.

If you are going to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the casinos you will love it. If you want to see one of the best sugar white sand beaches anywhere, drive about 1 and 1/2 hours to Gulf Shores Alabama and spend a great day on the beach.

YES, come to Alabama. We've got great beaches and golf and much, much more.

Our 3 minutes of fame

We were mentioned during the Smothers Brothers act at the Beau Rivage! They very cleverly worked our anniversary and our first date into their show. They asked us to stand. It was pretty exciting and special. Of course, no one knew us.

After the show, a lady on the elevator did ask if we had seen the show so I had to tell her......
