I am not sure if I am late to the party, but poking around on the mobile app today I saw that you can redeem your points for a statement credit at the 1.5 rate for restaurants, groceries, and home improvement stores through 9/30/20 - just like when you redeem your points through their travel portal. You can go back up to 90 days. I am sitting on a ton of points and with all of the uncertainty of late I am loathe to continue to sit on the points and watch them (potentially) evaporate in value, so I will definitely be redeeming some. Here are some articles on the promotion.

I happened to stumble across this the other day too as I was paying my bill.

It appears I have also missed bonus catagories on my Chase cards recently:
Chase Reserve: 5x on instacart and $50 statement credit, 5x at gas stations, 10x streaming services, $300 travel credit will now include Grocery and gas Stations

Marriott and Ritz will be earning 10X on gas and restaurants starting 7/15

I do need to get a handle on where I should be putting my grocery and gas spend.

I saw those on the app then couldn't find them on the website. Thanks for the link.

I just cancelled my instacart membership last month - but I guess that I will sign up again. Gas looks good but Costco is still a lot cheaper in our area so we will probably still get it there but we can use the CSR to pay. I just paid for a year of Disney+ on July 2nd and our netflix is already on CSR so I am good to go there as well. Of course the travel credit has never been an issue, lol.

I cancelled my Marriott card a few months ago (and my Hyatt card, and my Southwest card - just got tired of managing so many cards) so I won't have to agonize about what to do but at 10x I would definitely be making a change.

I never know what is better for my credit card spend. If the Amex offers 10X on groceries, that seems like a no-brainer, so I may do that. I have to do the math, and I am not good at math.

There's another promo that's coming up soon (starting July 15) if you have any of a number of different Chase Marriott credit cards (both personal and business). It will be 10x Marriott reward points on gas stations and restaurants up to a total of $3500 spend from July 15 through Sept 15. I just registered my accounts yesterday using the registration link in these posts:

I normally prefer to collect Chase Ultimate Reward points rather than Marriott hotel reward points because I find U.R. points much more valuable. But 10x is a lot, so this might tilt my spending for this 2 month period.

I like the new pay yourself back feature. For some reason it seem like Chase hides or least does not promote the various bonus and features on the Sapphire cards. Amex usualy send me emails about the new bonus, etc. But i usually only find out the chase offers from Blogs, Flyertalk and TUG..

I agree. But I have to be honest and admit to opting out of receiving any promotional emails, so I chalk it up to that.

I used the "pay yourself back" feature to reduce my bill to near -0- last month with credits from March thru May. There were quite a few, but thankfully, they could be combined into one entry in Quicken. I was going to do it again month, but my bill was mostly covered by a travel refund, so I'll wait till next month.

BTW, I just got an email that said, if you sign up to use the card for some recurring charges, they'll give you a bonus of 1,500 points. It's not much, but heck, it might make a difference down the road. I'll change back to my preferred card after the promo.

Keep an eye on your points. I logged into my Chase Sapphire to take advantage of the pay yourself back option in early August, to discover that they were gone. Someone hacked into our account, and used only the points to make two purchases from Amazon, depleting all of them. Fortunately, Chase replaced our cards and returned the points to our account very quickly.

That's scary. At least Chase had your back, but...

You may also want to change your log-in ID, password & security questions.
Whether they called it in or logged on as you, they knew way too much about you.
Some sites let you rename an ID, others are more cumbersome.

You may need to delete your online account and create a new one.
When someone used "forgot password" to try to access my bank account,
the bank asked me to change both my ID + password by going to a branch.
.

That would be amazing, if they keep it. I may start buying some Visa gift cards again. I will have to check Flyertalk and see what's going on with money orders at WalMart.
