Changing up GC counts as per post on FB

Non-VIP (resale or retail) gets 2 free GCs per account, whether you own 28k or 2.8 million points. It used to be only one, but they increased it a few years ago.

The one nice thing that happened with the big changes in August for the benefit summary implementation was that hybrid VIP owners now get a 2 free resale GCs plus the developer GCs based on their VIP level. I would guess that hybrid non-VIP owners also get 2 resale plus 2 developer GCs, but haven't seen anyone post about that change of affairs.

I can confirm what you said. Was getting 30, got 2 extra for resale in August as you described. Expect starting Jan 1 to get 15 for the developer points going forward.

30+2-15 = -13. Thanks Wyndham!

I don’t believe they do. Non-VIPs get 2 per account. Hybrid non-VIPs have one account, their points are all together in one visible bucket in terms of booking, so that one account gets 2 GCs.

I received an email this afternoon. I have 1 m including 2 pics. Can you add a family members as a owner? I have few family members whom I booked my timeshare 2-5 times yearly. Should I add their names as owner so I don’t have to use GC?
As others have said, this may not be for you (to add names). If you don't use many GC's per year and as long as the owner priority black-outs aren't an issue, it may not be the best thing for you. My situation is very different, I have lots of family that use the points and we're 'all in'. Those that were added know they could also be responsible for maintenance fees since their name is on the deed. That is definitely a consideration. Always good to bounce things around here on TUG, you'll get insight from many different angles.

...and you can pay for many many GCs with the money you save by not buying retail. Heck, you'll probably have a nice chunk leftover!

But in actuality this seems to be "repairing" their GC glitch. 15 at 1 million. The glitch was the next 1000 points which then triggered a new set of 15. That was the mistake. It seems as though they started reducing the GC in some of those accounts who had received that bonus in error. But there was lots of grumbling. How can they treat some people one way and other people a different way? So this seems to be the catch all so they can recover those bonus 15 from the 1,001,000 accounts.

BUT we all understand errors since we all own with Wyndham. So that number on the millions is correct had their not been an error. But they added GC into the system by having those 500k levels. There was no reason to do that if not solely for a sales ploy.

Since GC are annually based, no one can check on their 2022 numbers until the Calendar Year turns over.

The problem, as with everything else they are fixing, is that for every unintentional benefit like this one, salesmen were out there touting 30 GCs for 1.1M points as a legitimate, designed benefit, so that they could sell more points. When Wyndham pulls the rug out from under that "benefit", the salesman has already made his commissions.

That's one of the major problems with Wyndham in particular (and all timeshares generally) - it's generally quite difficult or close to impossible to have modifications added to the form contracts for a purchase to reflect what sales is touting. Just asking for that sort of thing relies on you recognizing that there is a discrepancy.

There was a time where it appeared to be a legitimate, designed benefit, for GC's to be awarded 15 per Million or fraction thereof (past 1M). Wyndham would confirm/agree. There are multiple discussions on this, with calls to Wyndham confirming. 3 or so years ago they started truncating some, and now this. When your house is built on sand, you can do this kind of stuff.

Has this showed up on Wyndham anywhere yet. The older Guest Cert rules is still being posted.

Do upcoming rules every get posted in advance, or do we get the update online when the new policy is in place?

I finally got the snail mail letter this week. Boy 1 month and 10 days from when it was announced. You think Wyndham could mail quicker than that.

(Wyndham wants to) Keep 'em guessing, Sandy!

I did get that letter. In 2007, when we bought Wyndham, we had unlimited guest certificates. One downgrade happened about two years after that, then another downgrade for 2022. What's next?

How long before the reservation starts can you add a guest certificate? Not sure if you can add one the same day or the day before.

Updates are immediate, pretty much you hit enter and the resort can see it.

I like to make sure I have my names right a couple days in advance, especially for large family get togethers (and that is often a challenge with my family - who's checking in first and staying with who). The resort does look ahead and 'pencil in' (but no guarantee) the room assignments. Theoretically, if I didn't have a special building or view request, I don't have to call in advance to request our rooms be together - they automatically group all the "Bo's" together. I do always call, but often they'll tell me it's already noted we're together.

And PSA - since it's that time of year - if you have any GC's left that are just going to expire 12/31, you may as well go ahead and add non-owner names now for any 2022 reservations that might need them (to use up what's going to expire anyways). Conversely, if I were out of GC's this year, and had someone checking in on 1/1, I could wait until I get my 2022 GC's and use it for my 1/1 (or later) reservation.

Thanks, glad they didn't change it for adding guests. I have added one the same day but you know how they love to keep changing the rules.

Here we go again. I'm one of the ones that received 15 GPs the last couple of years instead of the previous 30. I am VIPP, now hybrid. In 2021, not only did I receive 15 GPs instead of 30, but I was not awarded unlimited housekeeping. After the developer/resale split, my 2023 point totals were not correct either. I was able to get a ticket number as well as a single representative. He was able to manually add housekeeping and did add GPs to make 30 for 2021. With his assistance, he "reached out to my internal partners, to raise the priority level of your IT ticket" In a lightening 4 months, they were able to complete the audit so that my housekeeping was unlimited and my 2023 point count was correct. The rep is confident all is well with my account now......
,,,
Until 1/1/2022 anyway. I can't wait to see what my 2024 point count looks like.
