Changes can be made to weeks based reservations up to 60 days in advance of your checkin.

From the my-vacationclub.com website;

Changing a Reservation
If you need to change a confirmed reservation, notify us at least 60 days before your scheduled check-in date.

Your newly requested date is subject to availability.
Fee: $35 for each confirmed reservation change (fees subject to change).

what happens if you need to change the date within 60 days or simply need to cancel? Deposit with II? How late are deposits accepted?

You can't cancel inside of 60 days. Changes are not permitted. You can deposit it with II within 60 days up to 14 days before checkin and have a restricted deposit. That deposit can only search for exchanges within the next 59 days. If you deposit within 13 to 7 days before checkin, you have a 30 day restricted deposit. I don't think II accepts deposits within 7 days of checkin.

This is one area where Starwood is much better than Marriott. I can cancel my Starwood weeks reservation up to the day before check-in with no penalty and can deposit the week into Interval up until the last day of the year. I think Marriott should change their 60 day change policy and allow you to change the check-in date as long as it's no later than your current check-in date.
