I will consider the brilliant card. The use/ benefit sweetspot is everchanging.
You have always had your own login to MVC as well as to II; many couples choose to use only one login which results in any and all activity in the account, whether it is II or MVC, to be credited to the person whose account is the one being used to log in. And, you always need your own BonVoy account if you want to obtain individual status. Don't forget about having your own credit card too. I've recently helped two widows who did not understand that the credit card was in their H's name, and when their spouse passed suddenly, they were without a credit card.I called MVC yesterday since I seemed to have become an "other" when it comes to this ownership. They explained that I actually do have my own MVC number and that I can have my own login and this account links to MY Bonvoy account. So using hubby's login will credit his Bonvoy and using my login will credit mine. Since he is Titanium he doesn't need the complimentary Platinum status that comes with the MVC so that is now assigned to my account.
Now as to how the II nights will affect these accounts, not a clue. We only have the II account login where both names are listed (though I do seem to be that "other" on that account.) I am hopeful that I will be able to recover the 14 nights at MVC resorts that I had from II exchanges.
I never received my account number. So when I tried to create an account, it wasn't recognizing our MVC number as being valid. Now I've got one but my Bonvoy hasn't updated yet. I'm just not quite sure what to do about II. Nobody is getting credit for my stays that I booked with my II account and for which I checked in. I'm not exactly sure what to do about that with both of our names on the II account. Reservations that had been showing in his Bonvoy account no longer show up after I check in.You have always had your own login to MVC as well as to II; many couples choose to use only one login which results in any and all activity in the account, whether it is II or MVC, to be credited to the person whose account is the one being used to log in. If your spouse happened to obtain BonVoy level status the "old fashioned way", then make sure to designate your account as the primary so that you will receive the BonVoy status associated with the timeshare ownership level.
To be clear. Owners won't have always had their own logins. They would have their own owner number with MVC which they can use to create their own login ID to access the website under their name. I don't think all owners, perhaps even very few, have setup login profiles for all owners on the deed. With II it is different. There is only one II membership number for all owners. However each owner still has to create their own login web profile.You have always had your own login to MVC as well as to II
I am glad to hear that you were able to update your info with the info I provided. And, you are correct, I should have summarized it better. I should have said that every MVC owner has the ability to create their own personal login, and many fail to realize that aspect. They just need to set up the login.To be clear. Something I have noticed with login profiles;
MVC website - This works pretty seamless now that I took a tip from you to have Owner Services update my Bonvoy number in my MVC web profile. When I make a reservation under my login, it shows up in My Trips in my Bonvoy account. When my wife makes a reservation under her login, it shows up in her Bonvoy account.
II Account - Getaways - When she would make a getaway booking in her login ID, the confirmation certificate (PDF) would have her name and we could look up the reservation manually on Marriott.com using her name. Looking it up under my name didn't work. This is what we would expect.
II Account - Exchanges - This has recently started working differently and I'm not sure why. When making II exchanges, regardless of the login used, the confirmation certificate (PDF) always has my name on it. Until recently when she would make an exchange under her login ID we could only look up the reservation on Marriott.com under her name. However, I noticed for a couple of exchanges we made earlier this year that the reservations can now only looked them up using my name on Marriott.com For some reason II has started only passing my name to Marriott for the reservation details regardless of how we are logged in to the II website. Of course all reservations (getaway or exchange) made under my II login ID are able to be looked up on Marriott.com under my name.
I've figured it out by just using our free guest certificates to change the name on our II exchanges (and getaways sometimes) if they show up under the wrong name for lookup. Most of our stays for ENCs go toward my wife's account just so we target one for the 75 night free night certificate. Then one I know we will hit that I try to put all the stays in my name. Sometimes it means using an II guest certificate to do so. We get the 5 free with II platinum. Unfortunately that doesn't work for everyone. The problem with II is there is no real way to see which name is ties to an exchange as the confirmation certificate always seems to show the primary or first owner's name.As to II, I rarely use it, so I don't have any insight to offer. When you figure it out, as I am sure you will, I look forward to the explanation for why it is being so inconsistent.
Our MVC supplied II account confirmations show both owner names in the section below the unit description, even though the information with the address on the left has only 1 name. In my II account via the website, if I go to account then My Memberships, below the bit where it shows the membership level, but above the list of resorts, is a box with the list of owners, and one designated primary, but both are listed.The problem with II is there is no real way to see which name is ties to an exchange as the confirmation certificate always seems to show the primary or first owner's name.
Yeah, the PDF certificate lists all the owners in the section "No guest certificate required, when occupied by any of the following people: ". However, when you look up the reservation on Marriott.com it seems for exchanges that it can only be looked up using the primary owner name. For getaways it seems I can look it up under whomever's login was used to purchase the getaway.Our MVC supplied II account confirmations show both owner names in the section below the unit description, even though the information with the address on the left has only 1 name. I assume II's version of primary is different to MVCs as we've got ours split between us.
