Previously I was pretty on top of the details of the classic HGVC system. However, I have been out of the loop for several years, and a lot has changed.
Can someone remind me/fill me in on the details of changeable reservations within the Classic HGVC system? By changeable, I mean reservations where I can go online and delete days at the start of the reservation, and add ones at the end. Preferably without charge :)
Thanks.

Select change reservation option for the reservation from your reservation list. It is still the same as it has always been. It is a little harder for me to find the reservation list because of switch accounts (between DEX and HGVC), but I suspect that you still have the reservation list there at that drop-down menu.

And some reservations such as HW, Fiesta Americana and some affiliates can not be changed.

And those odd 7 night stays which still baffle me since you can change any other night stay

The 7 night are generally home or free ones they give for elite level, so they make then un-changable otherwise someone could change a free reservation to a 3 night which you have to pay for.

Unless you are Max or Elite Premier, then all reservations are free.

i never knew this
It is this perk for Elite, not sure about Legacy non-elite, that causes it. They don't want people working around the perk by booking a 7 night for free and then changing it. But, if you are elite premier then the rule should not apply to you since all reservations are free anyway but it will locks the EP reservation too.

If you cancel a reservation with a guest certificate do you get the certificate back?

No. It is gone. Depending on your Max or Legacy level, you still get another free one or you have to buy it, if you need another one

i'm legacy max-for-free with bhc AI. i rarely make and change seven day reservations so not sure if I would run into this issue.

Or have All Inclusive from one of the NY or Georgetown properties.
