I have a reservation inside of 30 days. I bought cancellation ins to protect my points. I want to reduce my reservation (take a day off at the end) to take a different flight. Can I change the reservation online? Can they do it if I call? What’s the charge? Thanks!

technically, not possible. No changes within 61 days and no cancellations within 31 or you lose points but CS may do it for you. Your trip cancellation insurance is to save your points if you cancel. Now you could cancel it and get your points back, because you have the insurance, and rebook. Just be careful if it is a high demand location.

It might be safer to just leave a day early and eat the points for the extra night. If you cancel then rebook it might cost another reservation fee.

I agree. I have never heard of CSR waiving the fee. But I would certainly calculate the fee (including risks) vs. point savings

If I really wanted my points back and I paid a new reservation fee, is HGVC able to drop a day or do they cancel my whole reservation and rebook? Not all of the days on my reservation are currently available, so I don't want the whole reservation canceled. Thanks for your help!

I would call CS and ask if they will do it and see what they say. They could modify it or cancel and rebook but get their thoughts.

Like others have said, the safest is to eat the points.

Agree with @HuskerATL, I don't know what CSRs can do. I know that we would need to cancel and rebook using the online system. That would be very risky.

This close to the stay, I’d be uncomfortable trying to cancel the reservation and rebooking. With the amount of flight cancellations, I would leave the extra day as a room backup just in case.

How many points would you be saving and after you account for the new reservation fee how much $ are you saving?
