Hello all, Thank you so much for replying to my earlier thread when we were staying at Disneyland Paris. Upon further review, we decided to spend 7 nights in Paris using Bonvoy points. So Tuggers, for Paris first-timers, which hotel do you recommend? We plan on making use of the transit/metro system as much as possible. We may go out to Disneyland for a day. As before, thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Great location for first timers. Walkable to a lot of attractions. Hop in Hop off bus stop right out front.
The amount of points is prohibitive - over 2 million for 7 days. What would be a great second choice?

We used to live in Paris and now we always try to stay in the first arr. and we are lifetime titanium Bonvoy members. So, https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hote...spa-paris-a-member-of-design-hotels/overview/
https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/parvd-renaissance-paris-vendome-hotel/overview/(Although I personally can’t stand the pictures of the model on the ceiling after their refurbishment years ago, but good location and great breakfast free for titanium..or used to be),the Westin Tuileries is an awesome location…https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/parvw-the-westin-paris-vendome/overview/. We have stayed at many of the other bonvoy properties but these are the beast location, walkable to almost everything in our opinion. We also have used https://www.parisvacationapartments.com/ and they are AWESOME! If you can get one at the Palais Royale, go for it! We did that for my son’s graduation and it was wonderful! We have also stayed in the Saint Germaine apartments of theirs…it’s a very reputable company. But I get it if you want to use Bonvoy points.
If the Bonvoy holts are too many pints, let me know…there are others of course, but not in as great locations, but you can still have a fantastic time…just need to do your research. Bon voyage!

How many in your party? Your interest in Disney makes me think there are kids. Depending on the number and their ages that may limit what you can find for hotels in Paris, especially with Bonvoys. Try a search on Marriott with your numbers and let us know what your choices are.

For what it’s worth, we spent a week at d’ile de France in 2017 and never went to Disney! We took the train to Paris everyday (originally didn’t plan to go everyday but it was so easy and the weather was so hot we changed plans).

After the TS week we spent 3 nights at the rive gauche (2 adults and a new HS graduate) because we could book it for 3. Paris is really easy to get around in.

I wrote a review of our trip that I would be happy to DM you if you are interested.

We have stayed at Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris for 4 trips. Pricey in points but got upgraded to a Suite [MACASSAR-SUITE] each time which made it worth it.
One of the finest experiences as well as great location [1 minute walk to Champs Elysees].

Last April we spent a few nights at these 2 which were nice too.
  • Hôtel de Berri Champs-Élysées, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris [2 minute walk to Champs Elysees]. Upgraded to [SIGNATURE EIFFEL-TOWER-VIEW].
  • Le Dokhan's, Paris Arc de Triomphe, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Paris [Closer to the Eiffel Tower]. Upgraded to [Signature-Suite].
We have had much better luck with room upgrades in Europe & Asia as opposed to the US.

Hello all, we have returned from Paris and had a most excellent stay at the Courtyard Gare De lyon. The location was FANTASTIC as it is across the street from a train/ metro station. The staff was excellent. We used the excellent Metro system to get around the entire week and had ZERO issues. We spent one day at Disneyland and crammed both parks in. We took a bullet train from Paris to Barcelona and it departed from Gare de Lyon too. The 7 hour trip was excellent as well. Highly recommend first class tickets so you can choose your seat. Thanks for everyone's help.

I was also upgraded to a suite after booking a standard room on points at the Prince de Galles. Since I was traveling with my college age son I really appreciated the extra space (and half bath!) We loved the hotel and location.

Thank you so much for following up! I am so glad you had a wonderful time and it’s great to hear about the Courtyard Gare De Lyon….i have never stayed there, so it’s great to know. What a wonderful trip you have had! And I’ve never taken the train to Barcelona….was it expensive? We have flown from Paris to Barcelona, but never the train. But sometimes all of the transportation to and from the airport then waiting time, well, it might take just about the same amount of time. I just always figured it’d be cheaper to fly than the train, but perhaps we, too, will do this on a future trip?! Thank you so much!

Hello Lakeshore,
You're welcome. The one-way tickets for two, first class on a Saturday, were $570. It was our first time on a high-speed train and the time flew by.

In general, we pre-purchased many tickets in advance to avoid long lines (i.e., Disneyland, Paris Opera, Louvre, Orssay, Seine River Cruise, Eiffel Tower). We also booked some Airbnb experiences (this is a relatively new offering by them) and Get your guide tours. Hope this helps.
