I've had my cell phone for about five years and its time to swap it in for a new one. I have a difficult time hearing on my razr and would like some advice as what is a decent phone to get. My want list includes at&t compatable, good voice quality (easy to hear), a screen that doesn't have tiny fonts (my near vision is not perfect anymore)- perhaps touchscreen with a feature for easy texting, I can't stand trying to figure out the old type. And if possible wi-fi with no extra data charge. If anyone has a phone they really like what kind is it?

Have you gone to the AT&T Store to see what cell phone you can get as a free or low-cost upgrade? I always get a free one when I renew my contract. I never pay for a phone!

I just added my wife and daughter to my at&t plan and got them both an LG Vu. They love the touch screen and the voice quality is very good. I have an iphone and have never had any problems with voice quality. Also, I got them the phone at Costco. They seem to have the best deal and they allow new or renewals.

Dw got me a Samsung Blackjack II (AT&T) for Christmas. I can't say it has sound quality to brag about. and of course the data plan is $30/mo. They have already exchanged it once as defective. I am experiencing buyer's remorse for not getting the i-Phone before the rescission period ended. :(

I love my IPHONE but I see you don't want the data cost - 30 bucks per month - but I'll tell you - it's great being able to check email etc. BIG screen with an amazing camera.

Didn't Cerralee ask about using wi-fi and not paying the data fee? I think the IPhone is capable of doing that. 'Course you have to be in a wi-fi area, but that might be manageable for a ($30/mo) price.

I have a Nokia N85 (unlocked GSM) with ATT and love it. It's got wifi, GPS, 5MP camera, MP3/MP4, expandable memory via microSD, FM radio, FM transmitter, etc, etc, etc. No data plan required. It uses T9, so it's not optimal for texting, by any means, and it's not touch screen, but it does have a ultra sharp OLED screen, so even small text is easy to read. Oh yeah, the call clarity is excellent. Much better than my old Nokia flip phone.

Agree 100%! Besides it makes shopping easier. There aren't too many that are free to choose from.

Check out the Palm Centro. Best Buy has them for free all the time. I loved mine. But my company switched me to Blackberry.

razrs are very durable. But I didn't like that the number pad is smooth ... I need relief buttons I kept misdialing.

I like my LG phone (LGCU500) but based on both mine and BubbaQ's experience with our phones we'd not go with another LG unless it was an older model with lots of use reviews. After about a year ours quit holding charges ... even when we replaced the battery. Turns out it's a common issue with em. Not sure if it's the model only or the brand in general.
