We had a ridiculous issue at Charlotte, NC, but it was NU Car, which we have used in Orlando without incident. We weren't allowed to take the car without paying for insurance, which was about $400.

We brought our proof of insurance required by CO law, which we brought just in case. He said we had to have the declarations pages. They wouldn't accept our proof of insurance and also said Rick's Chase Sapphire credit card wouldn't cover the cost. When I reserved the car, they had certain types of insurance they would accept. We have Safeco insurance. They wouldn't accept it. It wasn't listed. The credit card was worthless in that company's opinion.
Yeah avoid those no name car rentals places like the plague. I think they hire their employees from timeshare company sales staff. Nothing but lies and aggravation.

This crap is why i always use National now, even when its a little more expensive. I don't have to go to the counter. I don't have to deal with an agent trying to up sell me crap I don't need. I just go straight to the lot, and pick the car I want, and drive off. Such a better experience than any other rental company I have ever rented from.

Have you tried calling Costco for help? Our issue wasn't related to the bill, but Costco stepped in when Avis insisted they couldn't do anything to help us. She set up a 3-way call (she was on mute) to hear what Avis was telling us and then gave me directions on how to respond. My husband worked with Avis for 1.5 days trying to resolve the issue with no success. Costco had our problem resolved in under 3 hours.
