The problem lies in the fragility of such programs. There is no guarantee of persistence.Yes, it can be a real job to be rid of a timeshare but if you know that what you purchase has a built in exit program it can be very easy to get out when you want to.

Capital Vacations sucks. They are pure scum. Their shady practices after they took over management of Powder Ridge Village forced the resort closure. Their contract involved purchase of 350 units. They bought 100 and soon after stopped paying maintenance fees on these units and refused to buy he rest. This (plus MROP delinquency on their 300+ units) made the resort (which had 0 debt) insolvent and forced closure.
what makes you say that? I just looked so I could file my complaint - The Capital Vacations is not even listed on BBBThe BBB Rating for Capital Vacation is an A.
Agree. Unfortunately, the lack of basic financial, business and transactional education renders the population exceedingly vulnerable to be taken advantage of. Unless a person has business experience and background in business, has had a holistic education, etc, many people are naive as to basic finance, insurance, etc.Knowledge is Power. Knowing how easy it is to freeze your credit is important. Using that knowledge is most important. Don't pay these "Lifelock" companies to do what you can do yourself.

By Wyndham's exit program is also fraught with changes. It seems that recently they have stopped taking back converted weeks. At least at a number of properties. That is true. Some programs are better than others, imo.
Wyndham and Worldmark by Wyndham are the only programs I have looked at and after speaking to their exit team and reading of others experiences here at Tug with using this program I think the program works well and will be around until something better for members exiting is available.
