Can't use my re-exchange - what to do?

I exchanged one of my Marriott weeks with II and had to re-exchange as we couldn't go and now I found out that we can't go on the "re-exchange" week - ugh! When I called Marriott they said since it's a re-exchange that I'm out of luck if we can't go (friends and/or family can't go either...). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I believe you can cancel it again -- and then have the cancelation certificate for 1 year post cancelation (but you need to cancel just before 60 days before check-in for maximum length of time).

It's a bummer because you're out yet another Exchange Fee.

If it's a good week, can you Direct Exchange with a TUG friend?

I know it is against II rules to rent an exchange, but you might find some one that would be so thankful that you gave them the week they might give you a gift in return.

Or could you find a charity that could use the exchange?

If there is something available that you want, call again for a different rep. I believe the official policy is that you can not retrade a retrade but it has been done before .

Great ideas - thanks! I did call again, got a different rep and got a different answer. We'll see what the rep says when I call back to request an exchange...

If you get a rep that you like, ask for his / her name and phone number so you can call that rep back.
