Hi! I tried to make a "13 month" reservation for 2010 on a Sunday & was told that "Marriott does not release on a Sunday." Did you know that?

Which resort?

I tried to reserve 2 consecutive weeks: Week 1 Saturday, Feb 13- Feb 20, 2010
Week 2 Saturday, Feb 20- Feb 27, 2010

I called Sunday, Jan 11 2009, which is 13 months before Feb 11, 2010. At my resort we have Thursday check-ins. Thursday, Feb 11, 2010 would be the first checkin for the first weekend that I want. But, when I called Sunday, January 11, 2009 I was told to call back on Monday Jan 12 "because Marriott does not release inventory on a Sunday." This makes no sense to me. Can somebody please explain?

Just a guess, but maybe "Marriott does not release inventory on a Sunday." This may be an exception to the regular rules, meaning you have to wait till Monday before their system allows the reservations. If more than one person told you this and you can't book online it would seem like policy.

If Dave M. would get off the reef we'd probably have a less speculative answer:D

:) I'm off the reef and in Auckland, NZ, preparing for my 14-day cruise, which starts today.

Yes, that's correct. Monday is the earliest you can book those 13-month reservations that would normally open on a Sunday.

In 2007, Marriott sent out letters and e-mails about the process, because the extra day in 2008 (leap year) made it such that many more people, even those with Friday as the earliest check-in date, could call on Sunday. Those letters had a month-by-month "earliest date to call". Bottom line was that if the normal call-in day fell on a Sunday, then Monday would be the first day to call in.

Dave M.....I told you I would be missing you & here I am missing you! Hope you are having a wonderful time! Did you know about this "no releasing inventory on a Sunday"??? Anybody else?

it's all in the timing...

The timing of those last few posts is just too funny!!!

Scary............
I thought we could get in all kinds of mischief with Dave gone! It looks like he's keeping close watch on us. Darn!

LAXMom:LOL! Dave definitely has some kind of psychic power! Scary.

Dave sees and hears all even from half way around the world. Sort of like Santa Claus who always knew if you'd been naughty or nice!

KathyPet: Too funny. I was thinking the exact same thing when Lax Mom posted..."He sees you when you're sleeping, He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good...so be good for goodness sake!" OMG....Dave is Santa Claus!!!
