I agree with the general consensus here ... if you're otherwise low risk and healthy, GO!

Just be sure to...
(1) Wash your hands relentlessly and frequently and thoroughly, before you leave and while in airports/airplanes and while there, and
(2) do NOT eat at a buffet restaurant.

(Buffet's are one of the biggest reasons that cruise ships are floating petri dishes where illness spreads quickly. Touch one of those shared serving spoons at a buffet, and you're essentially licking the hands of the previous 20 people who used it.)

Decided to cancel and use the restricted options for Kierland. At least we can drive there and not worry about getting stuck in another country or flight restrictions.

I think many, many are doing the same even within the US. I've been looking for a 6 night break in Maui around Easter to use up some SO that expire this year and the same search that was coming back with e.g. 2 results across 1 resort a week ago now shows 71 results across 5 resorts.

We cancelled Kierland this weekend. We were given the choice of paying the $75 and having the staroption restrictions waived, or not paying and having the 60 day/no banking restrictions applied. We chose the former.

I wouldn't go. The restrictions, the quarantine time, etc. is changing daily. I just don't want to be in the middle of that mess. We are returning home next Tuesday from Montana. My biggest worry is getting in a Chicago taxi/uber. We are getting my son to pick us up. Once I'm home, I am staying put.

Honestly I think Vistana is being generous by waiving the restrictions. The $75 fee is totally worth it. If you have responsibilities back home that would be impacted by an unexpected modification to your travel plans, I would cancel.

I am writing to you from Lagunamar. We are leaving soon but if I could we would extend our stay. I did not see any sick people at the resort or ouside. A lot more people caughing back at home when we left (normal seasonaly). If you want to minimize contact with others go to Soriana and buy food/ drinks for the week.
We are here too and agree with everything. The riskiest part is the air travel.

We're changing our opinion ... and, sadly, our plans.

We're Canadian, and Canada's government just put out a formal travel advisory against all "non-essential" international travel.

That essentially negates any travel insurance, health insurance, etc -- and officially means you're on your own if borders get closed. All international flights (those that are still actually operating) will now be directed to land at only a few airports in Canada for additional screening. It sounds like mandatory post-arrival quarantine periods will be required for all international arrivals back in Canada -- like New Zealand just announced today. And the news is speculating that Canada's airlines are considering pulling all vacation destination flights from their schedules entirely for the forseeable future -- since planes will likely be empty.

We were supposed to be going to Cabo next week. We're cancelling now.

As much as I think that sunshine would be perfect for us (and we'd likely be perfectly safe) it's now incredibly risky to go anywhere with a travel advisory in place -- borders could be shut, we could be stranded indefinitely, insurance could be voided, and airlines may halt flights. If we got there, we might not get back for some time -- at least not easily. Yikes.

Was looking at flights to Cancun for this wed to sun since kids school is cancelled this upcoming week and it’s only $250 round trip! Tempted to book after just landing from skiing in Colorado for spring break.

I wish that they gave me this option yesterday. The rep I spoke with said that they are waiving fees but not restrictions. Perhaps after the declared national emergency, multiple school closures, etc., they realized that they would get a lot of cancellations.

I'm Canadian, and assuming the risk for now. I've never been sick a day in my life and feeling healthy taking recommended precautions. Scheduled for 6 more ts weeks. Just left Kauai for Phoenix where golf courses and hiking mountains are still open. Canada will close the borders for visitors but never for citizens coming home. If it's only 2 or 3 airports I'm ok with Toronto or Vancouver, as they both have ts where i can change my bookings to and self isolate. Worst case buy a car and drive home.

But following govt updates religiously.

For the trip I mentioned previously I was looking to use Hawaiian Air miles as we always do but currently, and using the $100 companion voucher that I never usually get to use, I can get 2 return flights to Maui for around $400. Crazy prices but crazy risk? Maybe!

Also Canadian, at Lagunamar right now. Very sparse crowd as you might imagine. Arrived on March 14 heading home on 21st. Both Toronto and Cancun airports were light on travelers.

We were glad to hear that flights from Mexico were not restricted this week

You probably want to cancel.

The U.S.-Mexico border will be closed to nonessential travel to further help stem the spread of the novel coronavirus, President Donald Trump announced Friday.

"As we did with Canada, we're also working with Mexico to implement new rules at our ports of entry to suspend non-essential travel," Trump said. "These new rules and procedures will not impede lawful trade and commerce." Trump said that Mexico is also suspending air travel from Europe.

It's interesting to read thread that were started a few weeks ago and see how things have changed. Two weeks ago people were still planning on traveling, as of today they are being much more cautious.

My yo-yo of a nephew went to the DR with his GF and her parents. College freshman, all excited to go drink I the DR (I get it). I told him this is one of those times where he has to make a decision in life. Evaluate the situation and see if the risk is worth it. I was happy he said he has been thinking about not going but ultimately since it was being paid for he felt he couldn’t back out. Which brought me to life lesson number 2, don’t to anything you don’t want to do in life kid! Ultimately he went, and things have now changed drastically as international travelers were told get back now or stay in place for at least a month. The trip was cut extremely short and they are heading back tomorrow 2 days early. They have to drive from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo. I hope he 1 catches nothing while traveling, 2 gets back home safely. I told him, you may go now but keep in mind things may hit the fan and you may not come back. My ultimate question is, if the original trip a cruise was cancelled due to this WHY on the good earth change it to DR? Reschedule for the summer and take a look around to see what’s happening.

I had trips planned I was planning on going on next week, had they been cancelled by the resort or Vistana, i wouldn’t be looking to book somewhere else. That should clue you in that maybe now is not the right time to go. Mind you, two weeks ago I was all gung ho in everyone continuing to travel.

you’re right it’s amazing to see how things have been changing.

He must have got in to the DR just before they shut down all inbound travel? This happened before the new travel warning from the Dept of State.

Yes. He left Monday and was supposed to be there until Monday.
