Newbie here.....

Thanks to all who have chimed in and given advise and their experiences. I happen to stumble upon this website, just looking for information on time shares...after we purchased in Las Vegas. We fell into the time share presentation trap.
I feel fortunate to have found this information before our 5 days to rescind expired.

We did opt out within the time frame allotted and the process was pretty easy and straight forward. There was a form tucked in the back of the paperwork...which should be in everyone's paperwork who buys a time share (and, they won't tell you it's in the paperwork)....all we had to do is sign, date and return to the address listed (certified).
( I added a short letter and the 1st page of our contract)

I am not against owning a time share, we just realized we overpaid.

I will say that it was a pretty good presentation....they can "polish a turd" and make it look pretty dang good! The presentation was pretty "low pressure" (we have sat through a high pressure presentation in the past).

If we decide to purchase a time share, it will be from the Resale market.
We did mention buying one off ebay....it about stopped the manager in her tracks!

I have a copy of the blank "rescind" letter if anyone is interested in what it looks like.

HGVC? Anyway, good on you for saving thousands. There is a ton to learn in these forums before you decide on a resale to buy (or not buy depending on how TS suits you, and you'll learn that, too).

What?! Are you psychic? Are you from the inside? hehe....Yes, it was an HGVC time share.

We were there last year, went to the presentation, said no....but bought the VIP package....which included another presentation! And, of course, they try to sweeten the pot.
I do appreciate that they have been "low pressure" both times we were at presentation. We just got sucked into the time share tractor beam at the most recent visit!

We didn't realize there was the "resale" market...or we probably would have save a bunch of time while we were there.

I don't think psychic abilities played any part in this. It was the 5000 points Gold contract that gave it away as an HGVC resort. As far as I know, HGVC is the only timeshare with that configuration.

I too am glad for you that you found TUG in time to rescind and save yourself $18,000.

Now I don't mean to nitpick and I know it's just a slight technicality but instead of the title reading "Cancelled our time share" it should read "Cancelled (or Rescinded) Our Timeshare Purchase"

The reason (besides the fact that you cancelled a purchase and not the actual timeshare)? When most here on TUG hear or read of someone cancelling his timeshare, it usually conjures up in our minds these underhanded PCCs, questionable law firms, or Viking Ship companies who claim they can "cancel" your TS when, in reality, the TS is still there.

So when I saw the title of your thread, the first thing that went through my mind was either someone who used one of these questionable (possibly illegal) companies or someone acting as a shill for them.

Anyway, good for you for finding TUG in time to cancel (or rescind) your purchase.

Lanny PC....thank you for the correction. I meant to title that but it got away from me...and it appears you can't edit the "title" of the thread/subject.
Must have been a little nervous!

Yeah...I figured each company has a similar but unique and identifiable programs....I was just being silly.
