I signed up for an II memebersgip this summer (I did it online on their website and paid for 3 years upfront in the believe I would gt my money back if I cancel).

Now I sent them a letter to cancel my membership after half a year. They sent me an eMail confirming they canceled the membership, but unfortunately they can not pay back the balance "as I signed up online". They can only pay back the balance if the mamabership was initiated by Interval International.

Ha????

Has anyboy heared of that?

Welcome to II. What, you want US to DO something? No thanks.

Now now folks. II is just about the perfect system! How can you come here and attempt denigrate such a group? Customer first is a great way to go and, maybe someday, II will actually think about embracing that approach. But for now just lie back and enjoy the free time you have while their web site is down, while you wait for the requests that will never be filled and use it to search for those ever-so-elusive "quality" resorts they tout. Oh, you may need that extra time to fend off the many phone calls you'll get from your "friends" at II asking you to change your request, take smaller units, change dates, change areas - come on! We have an unranked but just beautiful resort in upper nowheresville in mid-February. Heat is extra and there is that nagging $95 "welcome home fee" but really, its just about as good as the top ranked resort you wanted in July. Really. Trust us. After all we have Quality as a slogan.

You know, I keep hearing about how everyone gets these nagging calls from II asking them to lower their expections on their exchanged requests. Each time I make a request, I get one call a day or two later. During this call, they confirm the dates I want, make sure I'm not missing any resort, and make me aware of resorts I want that do not meet my other requirements (i.e. kitchen or Saturday check in). We conclude the call and I have never heard from them again. My last request came through about 1 week after I made it. I have another pending exchange, but it is for summer 2010, so I don't think I'll get a confirmation until summer 2009. But they've never called me repeatedly.

What kind of requests are you guys putting in that they keep calling to try to get you to settle for less than you want?

This is just one of John's many axes. It's well-ground, and sharp.

His experience in II was not good. Many others (including me) have had the opposite experience. Your mileage may vary, some restrictions apply.

While your constantly whining about II shouldnt you also add that you use II and trade into Marriotts anytime you want? You have previously posted just that.

This thread has taken an unfortunate direction and is no longer on-topic, so I'm closing it.
