Cancel / rebook question

This is a cancel and rebook question. I'm going to Pompano in December and I need to go from 7 nights to 6 nights. (12/1 - 12/8) to (12/1 - 12/7).

My question is if I cancel the 7 night reservation will I be able to immediately rebook to the 6 night reservation?

Any other ideas on how to accomplish this? TY!

Maybe, cancelled reservations don't come back immediately and can get picked up by wait-list.

I would create a wait-list for the 6 nights you want, if that comes through cancel your 7 night stay and book that.

If there is separate inventory currently available for the dates you want, I find that you can generally cancel and book that existing inventory. If you're depending on your own cancelled reservation to come back, you can't expect it to come back immediately. It's too late for the wait list, but it could go to a VIP upgrade. Or it could come back at some point - a few minutes, a few days. But it can't be counted on.

I would not cancel anything I can't afford to lose. Ever. You just can't count on things coming back. They might - but you can't plan on it.

That said -- we've heard rumblings of Wyndham allowing us to drop nights? Anyone heard any update on that? (cough, cough @HitchHiker71)

Email I received on 9/20 said the following about the ability to drop nights. No estimate on when it would be possible was provided.

With that in mind, a number of new features are currently in the works on your club website and will be rolling out online in the coming weeks. Check out the upcoming enhancements:


  • Recent Searches - see a list of destinations and resorts that were recently searched for.
  • Flexible Search - search by length of stay (number of nights, weekend, week, etc.) as well as preferred month of stay.
  • Waitlist Text Option - add a mobile phone number to your waitlist request to receive a match notification via SMS text message.
  • Modify Nights - ability to remove nights from booked reservations.
  • Bonus Time - option to pay for reservations using cash instead of points.

Before year end most likely. Most all of the announced improvements should be in place prior to the release of the mobile app - which last I spoke to anyone was sleighted for release toward year end around the holidays - or early next year if it gets pushed out for any reason. Most of these features are being introduced prior to the release of the mobile app itself - since these were key features that the mobile app evaluators indicated were important to have as part of the mobile app experience.

Wow. That would be great. But as others have pointed out having a built in late checkout isn't the worst thing in the world. Of course a consideration of one's yearly points may make that more or less important.

Be prepared for limited functionality of the mobile app. I've noticed that some companies I deal with (BOA. Fidelity) nave less functionality than their websites via a browser. Weight Watchers is now phone app only. They got rid of their website functionality.
