Canadiens icon Guy Lafleur, one of hockey's flashiest players, dead at 70

I do! My friend, Brad Park (wearing Boston #22), was just out in front of the goal when that shot was made. We went to high school together and I remember in our final year when he got the news that he would be starting with the Rangers that fall (1968). So many great players then!

Lafleur was one of them. Gone too soon, but what a great career he had. And that's coming from a die-hard, life-long, Leafs fan! May his family find comfort in how much he was loved and admired. Repose en paix, Guy.

Lovely post, although your third-to-last sentence is a bit disappointing. ;)

Guy Lafleur was my dad's favorite player - we had a framed, full size signed poster of him in the basement when I was a kid.

I remember seeing him play. For some reason I thought he was older than that. But that's probably because back when I watched hockey I thought all of the players were older than I was.

That's OK. I'm a Leafs fan; I can handle disappointment! ;)

The last year they won the Stanley Cup (in '67) I was still in high school. I'm now a senior!

I happened to be fortunate enough to actually meet Guy Lafleur once. I have an autographed collector puck signed by him in my office. It is the ONLY Habs memorabilia in my home!! He was a true gentleman and set a great example for many who came behind him, as was (and is) Brad!
