Heading to Princeville this spring. We may try to stay at Princeville. I have some left over Options from last year. Is anyone aware of a site or location where I can buy staroptions to complete my rental?

You can't purchase or transfer StarOptions; you may be thinking of Starpoints. You can borrow StarOptions from a future use year by pre-paying your MFs though.

I understand that you cant flip them directly through Starwood. I was wondering if there is another forum or message board where I can find owners who are looking to sell their options via a rental in my name.

thanks

You have until June 30th of any given usage year to bank your StarOptions. They expire on December 31st two years in the future. So if by saying that you have left over Options from last year, I assume you mean that you paid $99 to bank 2014's SOs, which means that you have until 12/31/16 to use them.

Banked StarOptions can be combined with any other StarOptions that you have in your name. So let's say you own a 1 bdrm at WKORV worth 81,000 StarOptions. If you had banked 22,000 StarOptions last year, in usage year 2016, you will have 103,000 StarOptions to use.

Starwood does not allow the transfer of SOs from one party to another, for any reason, so you cannot buy them from a third party and combine them with your leftover SOs. However, you can borrow them from 2017 if you pay your MFs in advance.

You can find owners that have their timeshares up for rent on the Classified section here at TUG (you must be a member to see them, I believe). Redweek is another reputable website for rentals. However, renting from another owner will not involve using your leftover SOs. Since most owners rent by the week, you can rent a week from an owner and then use your leftover SOs to add on a few days. However, this may mean changing villas as you'll have two separate reservations.

Adding on to what LisaRex said, renting a StarOptions reservation is prohibited according to the SVN rules. So, technically you could only rent from an owner whose home resort is Princeville.

Yes, my points are banked. I am not looking to use my normal use 2016 or 17 options for the trip.

Then you are out of luck, I'm afraid. Unlike other systems where you can buy "points" from multiple sources and combine them, you can't transfer SOs from one owner to another. If you don't want to buy another timeshare, your only option is to rent WPORV from an owner or from Starwood itself using cash and/or StarPoints.
