Can you bring Shell SVC into Wyndham without a huge purchase?

My wife and I are Founders level in CW. My parents are in their 70's and want to give us their CW Branson, and Shell Vacation Resort, Kona Coast 2. Both are direct from developer purchases and would transfer to me as such. We are happy to take the Branson as those points will come into our account as VIP points and add to our current balance.

However, I am not familiar with how CW is handling the SVC deed and if we can bring those into CW. It would be nice to have a Hawaii property in CW if that would open us up to the Hawaii access program as Hawaii owners and give us 11mo priority booking there.... But I think we already get that as Founder level members. We haven't bee to Hawaii for a few years so I am not sure.

If we can bring Kona Coast 2 into CW and add to our CW VIP points, it is worth taking it. If we have to purchase something big to get that to happen, then we probably don't want it as we are already Founders and don't "need" the points.

Does anyone have any recent experience converting Shell to CW? I think when CW bought Shell they allowed you to do it for free for a period of time. I assume that is done.

We actually went to an "update" recently because we wanted to ask this question and when I called CW they told me that I needed to go to a location and speak with a sales person.... I knew it was a lie, but figured we would try... So we went, got our $150 plus a free week to have them tell us that we had to go to a SVC resort, and do a sales presentation there. lol

So according to 2 different CW supervisor position people, I need go to Hawaii to have my question answered, they said going to California won't do it because the Hawaii properties are different and that CW wants the Hawaii inventory and they have a different program on those SVC properties.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If there is a forum on this I apologize. I did search and look for one.

The Shell will probably stay as Shell. I wouldn't want to pay money to Wyndham to "convert" it as it won't save any money. How many points is it?

Supposedly Wyndham isn't converting Shell to Club Wyndham anymore but it never hurts to ask. As part of a family transfer they might.

I don't know how many points it would convert to. I have just been told by CW that they will bring it into Wyndham on my account, but I have to be at a Hawaii Shell property to do it... I don't know if that is just something that the sales person made up on the spot, or if it's true.

I am only considering it because we are already Founders, and it would come in as VIP and add to our current points. My daughter is almost 18 and in a few years we may want to add her to our account and she can start using it... so a few more points would be fine.

One other thing would be if CW does bring it in and it would make us Hawaii owners, and I know there used to be some legitimate benefit to owning Hawaii with being able to book Hawaii properties 13mo in advance.

If we can bring it into CW for a nominal fee (a few thousand dollars), we would probably do it.

If we can not bring it into CW and add to our VIP points, I have no desire at all to own 1 unit in SVC. That would make no sense for us.

I was hoping someone in here had owned Shell and "converted" it to Wyndham, or someone that knows for sure how it works. When CW bought Shell they would have brought it in for free. I think now they want a purchase.

It's possible that Wyndham is only allowing some owners to convert, though I suspect if the price is right you can make it happen. I'm not sure if they mean "You can only convert if you own Hawaii" or "you need to trade in your non-Hawaii deed to buy a Hawaii one." The second will be much more expensive than the first, almost certainly.

or someone that knows for sure how it works
This is a moving target, so unless someone just did it---or is doing it now---their experience might not be helpful to you. I'd encourage you to call telesales and ask them what is possible. They tend to be straight shooters compared to the on-site sales offices.

I think this is the most current number for them:

Is there a Shell Vacation forum on here? I haven't found one, but I have searched. I apologize if I am missing it.

There are not enough Shell owners to have a forum. We are a very small bunch. Most of us wish we didn't own Shell. Just try to do a search for anything in 2025. The search function for Shell owners is not functioning and hasn't functioned in about 2 weeks. That is unacceptable.

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it. I am going to try the telesales and see what that gets me.

I wouldn't buy a Shell at Kona Coast resale, but the fact that I can get it free AND it counts as direct purchase is at least a consideration "if" I can bring it into Wyndham and add to my VIP points.... If I can't, I think I will just help my parents off-load it and get rid of it.

I was able to do some availability searches on the SVC website today. Hopefully it lasts.

A couple years ago I converted a week ownership at Kona Hawaiian Resort to points. Over the many years of ownership the ability to convert to points seemed to vary between "you have to purchase more points with the conversion", to offers from head office to convert for around $2000. In the end I converted when there was a limited time offer to do so for zero dollars. SVC is obviously a little different. However, if the experience is similar, "telesales" should at least have a conversion available at a reasonable cost, if "free" transfers have been curtailed.

I feel pretty stuck with Shell. I don't need it because I have Wyndham, way too many Wyndham points. Shell is just another expense I don't need.

I am not bashing Shell, as Shell has some great resorts in San Francisco, Peacock Suites in Anaheim (which has been improved since Wyndham took over), Little Sweden in Door County, Kauai Coast at the Beachboy, Vino Bello, the top resort in Napa Valley, and we love Legacy Golf Resort.

But I see all of that inventory on Wyndham. As long as I don't add guests to the Wyndham reservations of the same resorts, I can stay anything in the Shell system with Wyndham.

Was this a resale contract? I had read on a FB forum that someone was offered a deal to convert a Hawaii Resale contract into VIP eligible points as long as they purchased some amount of points directly from Wyndham. It actually seemed like a decent deal (similar in price to a PIC Plus) so I was wondering if Hawaii properties are just especially sought after by Wyndham.

There is a small team in the Corporate office who can convert Shell into Club Wyndham. You will get 40 Club Wyndham points for every 1 Shell point. INCLUDING RESALE contracts. There is information about this on the Shell website. The cost is $2,395 per Shell Club converted. Just call Owner Care and ask them to submit a form to the team for you and they will call you to review the conversion.
