Can Vistana owners who are in Abound transfer Club Points?

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere; I've seen it discussed without any clear answers.

Can Vistana owners with VOIs enrolled in Abound (and no ownership in MVC) transfer Club Points? More precisely, can Vistana owners with ownerships enrolled in Abound receive transferred club points from another owner?

We were promised the ability to do so in some early Abound documents, but I'm not sure that anybody has figured out how to actually do so. Among other things, transferring points requires the MVC member number of the recipient, and it's unclear whether the number that can be obtained by looking at the URL when linking to the MVC site from the Vistana dashboard is actually usable for points transfers.

My situation is that I did elect Abound for 2023 on one of my Vistana VOIs. I used about half of the resulting CPs for a booking. I now wish to make a second booking that would require about 500 more CPs than I have remaining, and it would make sense to "rent" the needed points. But I have no idea whether this would actually work or what the transferor would need to know in order to accomplish it. (I'd feel a lot better if MVC would tell us what our member numbers are!)

Has anyone done this? Has anyone gotten a straight answer from Vistana/MVC on whether it's supposed to work and how to do it?

I think the lack of responses is because no one really knows. I beleive one person tried to transfer a small amount but it didn't work. Don't know what membership number they used. We really need guinea pigs here to try this out to vet out the process.

I am going to give it a try with a verified seller on vacationpointsexchange. I will use the 13-digit number from the website URL, the seller is willing to give them a call and try it.

I note that there is also an 8-digit "contract number" shown on the MVC reservation I made with the Club Points I received for electing Abound on one of my Vistana VOIs. I don't know if that's a useful number, for this purpose, or not.

So Marriott got back to my transferor today and told them that it is not possible (yet?) to transfer points to a Vistana account. So my hoped-for transfer was cancelled. That really screws up my plans. I feel a bit bait and switched since MVW touted the ability to transfer points as one of the benefits we would get under Abound.

It seems that they have no idea what they rolled out and how it’s supposed to work.

It seems like a number of features do not work yet: transfer of points, no housekeeping fee reservations, no fee Interval exchanges. The site works when it works. But they only had 4.5 years to prepare for the merger so we should be patient :ponder:

As explained in another post it may be worthwhile to speak to a rep trained in both systems who may be able to provide you with a Marriott owner id that is linked to your Vistana account. You can use this to set up a Marriott account. Once you have the account setup use your Marriott owner id to transfer points as this is what us Marriott owners use when renting and transferring points. You should then be able to see all your Abound points, transactions and reservations in one place.

I did just that, and they did give me a 13-digit owner ID (It's the same one I could find by interpreting the website URL when I go to MVC from the Vistana dashboard.) But the guy who was trying to transfer points to me tried to do so using that ID, and they told him it was a no go.

One thing I need to investigate: the guy today also told me that the only points that could be transferred to Vistana owners are trust points, not elected points or holding account points.

Is that Marriott owner ID an 8- or 13- digit number?

Just repeating some of the above, but was also told by owner services that it would be possible for us to receive points, but she sounded unsure if the Vistana# would be our Marriott number to transfer to or not. This was in december, and she mentioned more clarification and details would come.

The number that Marriott gave me on the phone today is 13 digits.

Why these artificial barriers? I understand holding account points is a no go but how about elected points? I do not think there is any limitation in the FAQ about the type of points that can be transferred to the Vistana owners.

These are all the same as what is online on Vistana.com and in the first post of the mega thread here. The FAQ seems to support transfer, but MVC doesn't know how to make it work.

The number that Marriott gave me on the phone today is 13 digits.
I was given a 7 digit owner id to set up my new Marriott account that was linked with my Vistana account.

Thanks @Blhughes55 for posting the FAQ. I had read those previously but looked at them again.

The FAQ talks in multiple places about the ability to transfer Club Points to other MVC owners. Interestingly, it NEVER talks about the ability to have Club Points transferred to you FROM other owners, which is what I want to be able to do. Is this just an oversight, or do we only get the ability to transfer out and not in?

I'm frustrated at my inability to use my remaining Club Points for what I want to use them for (which requires me to rent a few extra points, which I'm apparently unable to do.)

Supposedly there is a Vistana-only owner here who has successfully had Club Points transferred to them from an MVC owner. If that's you, please PM me if you're willing to provide some detail on how that worked.

This was me. I can PM you.

What kind of points did you get? It seems that due to IT limitations (I assume) not all types of points can be transferred to the Vistana owners, just trust points.

So the latest wrinkle with this, is that I can no longer see how many Club Points are in my account. When I try to do so, the Vistana website opens a new window on the MVC site, but it no longer logs me into that site and all I get is a landing page. Probably just another MVC IT issue, but it's so frustrating that their systems are rarely functional.

Yep. The Vistana-MVC portal now takes you to the MVC Owner Login page that requires a MVC Owner number that Vistana Owners do not have.
Previously, it took to MVC page that allowed to see and use available Abound points.

MVC website is down today.

The Vistana site dashboard has changed so that it is much more difficult to find your reserved VSN trips. I don't like this change.
Everything is towards Marriott Abound resorts and using Abound.

I called Marriot Vacation club and they gave me a number. I just can’t seem to book ANYTHING.
