Can someone explain one-day gaps in Legacy HGVC availability?

That is one-day gaps in the availability for the same accommodation unit. I can understand 3 day gaps far out, and two day gaps within open season, but where do all the one day gaps come from? I see many and I don't understand - who is able to book one day reservations? They ruin what would otherwise be booking opportunities

I agree that it's freaking annoying! At first I thought it was folks doing speculative bookings but there are way too many of them.
For example, here's Kings Land with several one and two day gaps preventing folks from booking a full week. Perhaps we should start complaining to Member Services.

You are looking at KL availability 2 months after the club season opened. That can easily be explained as just how club owners are booking partial weeks within the club rules. I think it is much harder to explain the partial weeks when the club season hasn't even opened yet (like still during the Home Week period)

Let me find a better example.

Here is a concrete example of what I am asking about. For the Lagoon Tower in Hawaii, next month (October). Notice the two one day gaps between three periods of two day availability. Making these days un-bookable with points. I can't understand how these two single days can be unavailable. Been like this for some time, and many other examples out there.

One and two day gaps are normal for a points system and I see it all the time in MVC and DVC as well as HGVC. It's just that at most HGVC resorts there is a 3 night minimum so they don't disappear when someone is willing to book one or two nights.

As for how a single day can be unavailable it's easy. Say there are 2 STR studios. One owner booked THU 2 - SUN 5 and another booked SAT 4 - TUE 7. So both are unavailable SAT 4 - SUN 5 and there is one STR studio left on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th.

Huh? You asked the wrong question. That is looking at it backwards. w/o speculating on process, the result of a 1 day gap seems totally feasible to me.
1 thing I would add for HI or anyplace that is a flight away: I tend to fly to/from to HI on Tues or Thur. From CA, the flights can be half the price. If many people do that, I can see gaps occurring T/W/Th. Then on the wkend, people may try to avoid one of the more expensive nights.

Our next trip to KOA goes out on a Monday (surprisingly, the lowest cost date from SJC in that timeframe) and returns on the following Wednesday (also a low cost day) for just that reason.

Cheers.

Once club season hits all days are up for grabs, as Skoop said, two people can break up a week and leave an orphan day.

I suspect Hilton can rent short stays also when people exchange for HHonors points. There was a long thread on how they blocked out F1 dates at Elara.
