But the purpose of my post was to illustrate how crazy and unbelievable such an offer by SMTN was and not to suggest that they're "really" making such an offer. It's not even an offer with an end date, but they're allegedly willing to take on a debt in perpetuity. Seems a tad questionable to me. :)
I just realized taking on a debt in perpetuity is precisely what we all do as timeshare owners.

Where are you getting $9640 per month? Maintenance fees are paid annually.

I was thinking annuity when I wrote that. It's been edited.

There is a lot more to this transaction other than list your contract with us for $80K, we pay the $9600 annual fee until sold and you pay us $20K. There is no way SMTN does this deal as described. Hopefully the OP comes back to tell us more details.

Just curious, if SMTN takes control of the roughly 15K DC points as part of this deal (and keeps the proceeds), can they easily rent those points in excess of the $9600 maintenance fees?

SMTN is basically a scam, and paying them anything is like taking a match to the cash.
