This year-out of 800 owners in the building I am in (separate HOA for all the buildings) only 114 voted for the board members!

In any event- why don't you start a Facebook Group specifically for this? Maybe somehow the owners will find you? A lot can be done over the internet...

Here is a FB page I found. Maybe you could post on there and then go from there?

The proxy voter's all voted for the current HOA members correct.

Because we did not get 20% participation, the board members stay put by default.

Quite pathetic that not even 1 out of every 5 owners could be bothered to vote at all --- at a place in which they have a personal financial interest and investment.

Within the "chains", voting may well be just a meaningless and academic exercise, with the deck heavily stacked with (paid) corporate stooge representatives anyhow.
With smaller independent facilities however, Board members are your (unpaid) fellow owners. Personally, I want BoD/HOA reps and decision makers who consider and reflect our collective interests as owners, not corporate priorities, including the selection and oversight of the contracted management company for the property.

In the end, some folks want to make things happen, while others are content to just watch things happen; I guess that's a personal prerogative and choice.

This was happening at my former ts too as the proxy wording gave the current board power to vote it as they wish. Informed voters started putting someone trusted name in the blank. Takes coordinated effort and interest to change status quo

If we assume (as I do) that most timeshares aren't worth the paper the deeds are printed on, we don't have a financial interest

And
The timeshares that have a significant value have that value in large part due to the manager and developer. I'm thinking Marriott , Disney and the various brands we call the "hotel" brands. Without that "name" there would be no value

I know I bought Wyndham because of the Wyndham name and
I don't vote for any changes because I am confident that Wyndham can do a better job than I can

Your assumption that I couldn't be bothered to vote is a little off base I choose not to vote and I am really bothered by the dissident owner groups that want to upset things just for the fun of it

We all have a financial interest in terms of operating expenses and the control of them.

Agreed! This drives me nuts! And it is so simple to do. You get an email. You click on the link. Vote and you're done! How much effort does this take?!:crash:

Our buildings' HOA board members are very good and I trust them to follow the bylaws, etc. I always vote them in. Heck- it's a thankless job. It's just the principle of the thing that all the owners should vote- just even so that the board and the resort management will see people are watching. Same goes for people's home communities and towns where they live. People should pay attention to what goes on with their elected officials- show up to a few meetings once in a while; call; send emails. And VOTE! They need to be held accountable.

But it is amazing how no one ever calls in to listen in on the board meetings- this week only me and another member were on the phone with the board. No one looks at the documents clearly posted on-line. I am like the town crier on Facebook posting the synopsis of what went on and hoping to perk people up. Frustrating.

Send Out The Proxy Forms With The Bills For Maintenance Fees.

Maybe it would help if the ballots & proxy forms went out in the same envelopes with the bills for maintenance fees.

Might help. Can't hurt.
