Can’t use Resort at Kierland

I’m brining my own cleaning supplies. I will clean the villa. Never trust the cleaning staff. the resort is open. Please remember the Covid numbers are on the rise in AZ. :(

Yes, thanks for this update. We are schedule to arrive on June 14th. Traveling with my wife and 3 kids (ages 9, 7 & 3). The pools are the main reason for our visit so if we are limited to 1/2 a day at the villa pools with no access to the hotel pools then that will make me rethink our vacation. Just not much else to do with kids when the zoo, children's museum etc. are still closed. I just tried calling out to the villas to see what occupancy rate is for that week and to understand how far in advance we'll know if we have full day access to villa pools and hotel pools. No answer but I left a message so will update if/when I get a call back.

We will most likely see you at the pools. Hopefully everything is open.

After about a dozen unanswered calls I finally got through to Andy at the front desk, here is what I learned:
  • As @Richierich2 shared, you’ll be limited to signing up for a morning or afternoon time slot at one of the two pools.
  • You’ll be given a wrist band with date, pool and time selection (I’m guessing this is how they will try to enforce the policy)
  • You can make selection for each day of your stay at check-in
  • The are limiting capacity to 130 people per time-slot at each pool
I asked if they are under the 130 people capacity would we be able to use the pool outside of our selected time. He said that they will be asking everyone to stick to their designated pool and time-slot but we could potentially use the pools outside of our selected time Mon-Thurs depending on occupancy. He said that Fri-Sun are busy and that we won’t be able to use the pools on these day for more than our selected time. If we are able to use the pools beyond our selected time it would be a day by day decision and we’d need to check with the staff. I asked what occupancy looked like for the week of the 14th. He didn’t give specifics but stated that they are “filling up with stay-cationers.” He did say that this weekend they were at 85% capacity the weekdays were slightly lower.

I also asked about use of the hotel adventure pool – and he basically restated what has already been shared here. It is restricted to hotel guests at this time.

We're currently at Kierland villas, arrived last Monday, staying until Friday. Good news is that both pools are open. They issue bands for am/pm which works quite well. As for the other amenities, they also have limited access to the fitness center and the golf course is open. Locally, while there's a curfew, most of the restaurants are dine-in and shopping is open except for a few stores (mainly their choice).

Thanks for the info. Any issues getting your first choice of pool and/or time? Have you tried / had any luck getting both am and pm timeslots on the same day?

Got exactly what we wanted in terms of pool choice/time choice (am - rec pool). The sun's bright enough for us to not want 2 times, but I suspect you could esp during the week days.

We will see if we are allowed at the resort.
 
Just checkin. Room is super clean. Stay is so friendly. There is a PM pool time slot open from 6:30 to 10pm. We reserved pool slot for the afternoon for next week. No access to the resort. Resort lazy river closed. Heard opening maybe next week.

We’re all wondering when the Marriott integration will be complete and when the new platform will be rolled out and will every vistana owner have access to Marriott properties, or will there be a buy in? Have the points charts been established yet?
 
I can tell you the salesperson has zero of those answers. They have no contact with corporate. Their job is to sell you the program that is available now. Not one person in that room has the answer to any of those questions.

So do you think vistana will send an email to owners first with the details before they inform salespeople, or do you think it will be simultaneously? At some point, it will happen and they’ll have to educate us somehow, right?

I will ask those questions. Honestly I think the call will from FL. The on-site sales office is closed. I think vistana furbelowed everybody. It’s good to see some staff coming back this week. :)

I would bet the owners will know before the salespeople. It’s counter productive to sell something that might happen instead of what‘s in front of you.
 
We’ve been here since Monday. Toasty today! High of 111. It is not crowded and we’ve had no issues getting our preferred pool time. We even did the lazy river yesterday because hardly anyone was at the hotel pools.

Haven’t been offered an “update” and don’t plan on doing it anyway.

We lucky to have escaped the heat. 110 is really hot. Looks like the lazy river is open up villa guest. I am not sure if it’s day by day or they officially changed the policies.

If you want to get a update there is somebody from the sales team onsite who could assist. I received a email from him last week while at Kierland.

Zero chance of me doing an update. It’s pretty empty here now. No issues at any pool.
 
So much talk about the resort pools, but are the restaurants open? I can't imagine being at the villas without using the hotel restaurants and such (like that Scotch bar!)

I don’t know. Deseo was open. Not sure about the bars. We didn’t go over there in the evening. We were having our drinks by the adult pool at the villas.

I booked this as a Getaway after checking the Dodgers schedule. We were looking forward to attending a couple of games. We left a day early because I was getting bored.
 
What else is currently open on property? McDowell Grill / bar? Fun team activities? Concierge? Are they enforcing pool reservations?
 
If I really cared I would just call the front desk and all those questions would be answered.
 
All that is closed other than pool reservations. We got whatever time we wanted. It is slow season. Hardly anyone there.
 
Nice, hope it stays this way until the Covid spikes passes
