Cabo Azul Walking/Running Options

I have an upcoming trip to Cabo Azul via an RCI trade early next year.

1) Are there safe walking or running trails from the resort? If so, where?
2) Can you recommend best 2 bdrms in buildings/rooms to request? Are there certain 2 bdrm locations where RCI trades are placed?
3) Best places to eat and drink. (I know about the Thurs Art Walk)
4) Other items of interest?

Many people walk/run on the Beach. Swim with the Dolphins in the San Jose del Cabo Harbour. We like the 2 bedrooms that over look the Adult Pool. Quiet and folks very friendly. These have no Ocean View and a walk to the Main Pool and Beach. We walk down each morning to watch Sunrise. As for restaurants we like Mariscos El Chino, Mariscos El Toro Guero, and French Rivera Bakery to name just a few. Swimming with the Whale Sharks in LA Paz is exciting but expensive (if you take the tour from San Jose del Cabo) and time consuming. Snorkel at Cabo Pulmo. The best local beaches for snorkeling are Chileno and Santa Maria. They are on Corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The Beach at Cabo Azul is non-swimming.

You might be able to jog near the marina as well. It’s a nice road leading to the JW Marriott. We liked the Italian place across the street. La Forchetta I think. Also lateral crudo is close and very good. You’re very close to Flora Farms which is a big hit with everyone I’ve spoken to.
 
IMHO. those fellow Tuggers posts were very helpful.
 
It would be a couple mile jog to the Marina and back. We have walked it. My ankles and knees are long past jogging anywhere. Once we left Cabo Azul and walked on the Beach to the Harbour Mouth, to the Marina, then back to Cabo Azul via the town. I think it was about 7 miles. The day we did this they were having a Naming Ceremony for a Baby Dolphin. From Cabo Azul to the Square is about 1 to 1.5 miles. It is about a 3/4 mile walk to the large grocery stores.
 
If your curious about the HGV La Pacifica make a reservation for dinner at Vela at the Hilton hotel. Excellent Italian food in a beautiful setting. It's just a short ride from Azul and then you'll get to snoop the property. We did a very low pressure tour and they gave us 150k honors points.

Interesting. We will be at FA-Cabo in a month. For that number of points, I wouldn't mind taking a low-pressure tour. How did you arrange that?
 
The Rooftop at the Cape, a Thompson Hotel, near Cabo San Lucas is a great place to watch the sunset over the arches. You've got to get there a bit early, around when they open in the evening, in order to get a table with a great view. It's more of an upscale bar than a restaurant, though we did enjoy the small bites they had and skipped going out to dinner afterwards. It was quite easy getting there and back using Uber - we had not rented a car so didn't need to worry about parking.

We were staying at La Pacifica at the time.

Thanks all for the suggestions. We are looking forward to our stay since we haven't been there since pre-Covid.

I wouldn't mind that amount of points either. We have a short stay at La Pacifica planned before we head to Cabo Azul.

Do you know if there are running/walking trails by La Pacifica? One of the things I love about FA Cabo is the gated community which provides safe roads for walking/running. FA also provides cold towels and water at the front gate.

It is near the busy main road so I wouldn’t run out there. The beach is very wide though and I saw a few people running on the beach. There is a nice breakwater there also so you can swim and snorkel.
 
@buzglyd It sounds like you have stayed at all three resorts. How would you rank them in terms of rooms and amenities?

That’s a tough one because we like them all. The FA gets a slight downgrade because of the mandatory AI.

1) La Pacifica- rooms are small but nicely appointed. We stayed in a studio but saw a 1 bedroom on the tour and it was jaw-dropping. Not likely to stay in one as the point values are crazy and there are only 7 units. The food at the Hilton is exceptional (and expensive). We were offered the optional AI on check in and declined because we know so many great places to eat in the area and we had a car. Later we wished we had taken the option as the beverages were expensive and the food was so good I wouldn’t have minded eating there 3 straight days. Next time.

Tie) AZul and FA. FA has all ocean views and multiple pools. Many of the CA rooms don’t have great views. The food at CA is better than FA and there is a Javier’s on property (it’s a semi famous Orange county restaurant). Service is excellent at both. You can snorkel right in front of FA which you can’t do at CA. You can walk off property into San Jose at CA. FA you are confined to the property, nothing walkable.

I think you’ve stayed at FA and know the AI is great for breakfast, lunch and drinks by the pool. Dinners are disappointing. The AI at LP was offered to us at $170 per person. It’s a little steep but food and beverages were excellent. Did I mention to eat at the Italian place? ;-)
 
Thanks for the tip @buzglyd. Since we are only a few days at LP, we will go for the AI. Agree that the breakfast, lunches (love the seafood tacos by the pool) and drinks are great at FA. Dinner not so great - plus a long wait.

Looking forward to trying Cabo Azul. Good to know about the views. I am looking forward to being able to walk into town for dinners and the Artwalk since FA never had this option.
