Cabo Azul Daily Amenities Fee Interval vs RCI

RCI has Exchange 2 Bedroom for 7,600-ish point, plus RCI Fee, plus $70/day Resort Fee. I call it $2,000 for 1 week at Cabo Azul.
That's $300/night for a 2 bedroom at a resort.

Personally, I think this is still a steal and inline with the MFs.

Airfare from LAX is cheap. The shuttle or taxi is a bit of a downer, but San Jose seems to be an easy place to spend some time and slow down.

We just booked an exchange into a 2 bedroom ocean view thru DEX and the agent handling this (b/c the DEX website sucks big time and all you get is the spiral of doom ‘Please Wait’ on your screen when you try to book online) checked with her supervisor and assured me there was no daily resort fee charged because we were booking through DEX. Tons of availability currently thru 2025 on DEX website.
Was this accurate, you were not charged any resort fees, were there any other taxes or fees you paid aside from what you had already paid through DEX?

We just returned from our trip and we were not charged a resort fee. There were no additional charges other than what we had already paid thru DEX. Not sure if it makes a difference but this was exchanging our week thru DEX (i.e. we own a deeded week in HI), not points. Our stay was lovely and I can confirm Cabo Azul is way nicer than any of the other HGV resorts we’ve stayed in - quality was comparable to a Marriott, Westin or Hyatt in my opinion.

RCI still shows the 1200 MXN pesos / day resort fee.

I was told by the DEX customer service person who helped me that because we were considered owners (even though we didn't own at that specific resort), we would not have to pay the resort fee. I was worried because the email confirmation we received did mention additional resort fees, so I called DEX back and got the same answer from a different rep. My interpretation was that if we had booked through Interval or RCI, the resort fee would be charged.
