We are also building a raised bed for a salad garden, which is therapy for my husband, and hopefully will reduce the frequency of trips to the grocery store this summer.

Give me something good to read, my favorite TV shows, the treadmill, and the internet, and I can cocoon indefinitely. But my DH, who has only been retired about a year and a half, is having a hard time with it. On a normal pre-Coronavirus day, he would make a run to the grocery store, hardware store, Wal-Mart, pharmacy, post office, or credit union, whether we actually needed anything or not, just because he had cabin fever. He's going to have to adjust.
I'm with your hubs in this one.

First day of hunkering in and it feels good. I have until next Monday before Spring Break is over and we switch to online College of Charleston classes (Italian.) I'm going to clean one room a day this week. There's always closets and drawers to clean out, magazines to catch up on, books to listen to as I work, studying, and our courtyard garden to tend. As far as I know there has only been one case in Charleston but with my 98 year old mother living with us, we have to get and stay serious about this. Anyone who doesn't, IMHO, is selfish and putting other lives at risk. These are times which call for sacrifice by all. My husband and I should have started this sooner ourselves.

I am now considering one of those freezer food service companies. years ago I had Colorado Prime which was expensive but very helpful living in an isolated area and being a new mom.

I am looking into Schwans.
Another option, there are many manufactures that you can order directly from their website, based on my experience with my gluten free favorites.

We used to be Schwan's customers but their prices kept climbing (but this was many years ago). Haven't tried them in recent years though - never a question of quality though as all of their stuff was good...

Now that our gym is closed and the weather is not good yet, we are thinking about buying or renting an elliptical for in-home use. Any recommendations on where to buy or rent?

Do you have an active NextDoor group in your area? Many times there are "curb alerts", where someone has put stuff at bottom of driveway for whomever. Other times they post their for sale items. You could post an item wanted listing.

too bad you are way far from me, there is an unused treadmill in my mother's basement and possibly a stationary bike.

you might also check with nearby health clubs - the one I used to belong to swapped out equipment frequently - sometimes they had mfg demos they didn't like. In both cases, obsolete or unwanted new items were for sale. Check first with the independents, they will be most hurt in this and most likely to make a deal. and have buff people to load it for you.

lastly, some retail stores will be hurting. sometimes these items are at Walmart, possibly Best Buy, even Goodwill. call ahead, of course!

@geekette great ideas. Perhaps our local gym would be willing to rent out their equipment for a while to get a little cash flow.

I am determined to do something each day that I wouldn't have done without social isolation. I got that darn skit written and it is pretty cute. I have done a little organizing and will hit some drawers yet this week. I will do some outside cleaning too. The weather is getting quite mild, which really helps. I also picked up a meal from a small restaurant today. I seldom eat out, but I want to support our local eateries.
